gerry was being experimented on in the magnus institute bc his mother forced him to. gertrude was working there but since there is no threat of the apocalypse in this universe she isn’t as hardened by life as she was in tma. she grows attached to him (maybe bc she knew eric delano??? who’s i guess dead???) and takes him in, gets him out of the institute and away from mary keay. cue found family library AU
