was half expecting the boops to be back today :(

tumblr why can’t we have our boops this year?

dilemind:

i don’t mind being the villain in your story because you’re a clown in mine.

hey. hey google ai. I’m trying to do stats hw. stop telling me about fortnight.

whimsical-catacombs:

why are time loops always only like 1 day long?

the real horror is a months or years long time loop. no speedrunning your torture here. you have to sit with the consequences of your actions for a loooong time before the release of knowing the consequences and actions have been erased.

but oh, all the actions and consequences are gone. those relationships you built? empty. you can never build them again without the constant guilt of knowing that it’s not as real the second, third, thirtieth time when you already know all their secrets and they none of yours.

but you can’t hide. you can’t isolate yourself because what if this is the time the loop breaks and then what? years gone by of missed chances with people who have changed you a thousand times and now circumstances have changed. you can never build back what was washed away by your own inaction. they’ll never be able to meet you like they did the first time if you don’t choose to meet them the first time every time

these eclipses do portend these divisions—

anyway I think Edgar might be planning to kill Gloucester 🤔🤔

might wanna investigate that…🕵️🔎

me making posts about my brand new niche interest no one really cares about but i m free because i will never get tired of talking to myself forever

look edmund’s one single line in 2.2 is so important.

he’s constantly playing the part of the peacekeeper up until act 5.

he’s acting as an intermediary between edgar and gloucester to supposedly try to resolve the conflict.

he’s constantly justifying edgar to gloucester and warning edgar of the danger he’s in

he’s so so sorry that he has to turn in his father to cornwall– he’s only doing it because he’s so loyal to his country that he has to turn against his father to protect his home

these are all crucial parts of the role he’s trying to play.

so him hearing a fight outdoors and immediately running out to break it up– while he’s injured! right after he just got injured protecting his father! – is so important.

he’s playing the role of the peacekeeper. and he’s deeply in character.

whenever I get overly judgmental about cut lines I remember that broadway Romeo and Juliet cut the part where capulet says ‘go invite these guests to the party’ and the guy goes 'but.. I can’t read :(’

the most annoying people are people who don’t understand storytelling. they be like “oooo how convenient that this thing happened to the main character in the very beginning”. yeah no shit. that’s why the story begins here

excellent addition to this!!

“light is cocky” ✅ correct observation

“light wouldn’t have gotten caught if he wasn’t cocky” ✅ also correct observation

“light wouldn’t have gotten caught if he wasn’t so cocky, and therefore making him cocky was a bad writing decision” ❌ no. do you hate stories? do you hate when plot happens? because no plot would happen if characters didn’t have defining personality traits that motivate their actions

a meme of an emoji person pointing and laughing at the viewer. the text says "you fell for the character's facade that's meant to be dismantled by the viewer!" ALT

what if this became an operation mincemeat account for the next two weeks

a gentleman’s guide to love and murder 🤝 operation mincemeat

a british musical with some level of genderblind casting where member(s) play multiple roles and the plot is driven by a guy named monty being impulsive and charismatic (in a cringefail boyloser sort of way)

trashpidgeon48:

You may think they exaggerated the character traits of Ewen Montagu for comedic effect in hit comedy musical Operation Mincemeat.

But then you look into it and realize that he was just… like that.

watched mincemeat today and ewen has consumed my mind

I love this man so much

I wish the online fandom communities as a whole could pick up operation mincemeat and become as obsessed with it as they were with hamilton in 2016

ewen montagu’s got main character syndrome in the best possible way and we love him for that <3

I think Ive accidentally integrated myself into british tumblr

must a villain be redeemed? isn’t it enough that they’re bitter, evil, and most importantly, hot?

@edettethegreat

thanks for having me in mind when your local Edmund-coded post enters your dashboard <3

idk what the character ask thing is but could I get my boy laertes if you haven't already done one for him?

hamletkin:

omg of course!! thank you so much for the ask! i love him!!!

WOOOO Thank you for your laertes opinions!!

I love laertes a totally reasonable amount and I love how much thought you’ve given his character–

now I’d love to read a full length fanfic of what laertes was doing in france

(and you’re so right about osric :))

a-spoonful-of-arsenic:

I’ve just read ‘Beyond Top Secret U’ - Ewen Montagu’s autobiography of his time during WW2 and he is just as chaotic as the musical depicts him.

He refers to Godfrey throughout almost exclusively as 'Uncle John’

He nearly went blind in 1941

Basically calls Bevan’s team useless at their jobs and calls Bevan himself 'unfortunate’ (even funnier knowing they hated each other and Monty wrote a two page long rant about him and why he should be fired)

Asked to be released from the Navy so he could join the German Navy when they refused to promote him because they couldn’t be told about the work he was doing

When he first joined MI5 people got him confused with Ivor who they were already keeping tabs on as he was possibly Soviet spy

He says that he wrote the man who never was in a weekend

He also at one point talks about being given an automatic pistol to wear in a shoulder holster because he rode his bike to work everyday, with top secret documents chained to the basket.

(there are more but these were things that stood out to me when reading the book)

you have no idea how honored I’d be if you’d draw this

what do you mean i have to do math in my math class

i mean i do understand that on some basic level mean girls is somewhat a julius caesar retelling but it’s not enough we can do better. sororities and toga parties are RIGHT THERE. julie just led her sisters to victory at the 24 hour danceathon for charity. but cass is concerned she’s getting a big head after many of the other girls express their willingness for julie to name herself president even though they’ve vowed not to have one. so cass enlists (seduces?) julie’s (platonic?) best friend brooke for help……

mumblesplash:

what no it wasn’t a typo my role on this team is literally ‘specialest’. i don’t have any relevant skills i’m just their favorite little guy

ah yes the two genders. male and email.

suits-of-woe:

i’m curious if this is actually a real trend

reblog with your major or the way that you mostly interact with shakespeare (acting vs watching vs reading) and whether or not you say macb*th

ik this post is ancient but I’m curious about my beloved mutuals

(business communications major, mainly read and see live theater productions (not a fan of most movie versions of shakespeare), of course I say macbeth, didn’t know there was a large amount of real people out there who don’t say it. I thought it was like. an exaggerated joke)

suits-of-woe:

i feel like malcolm falls into the same category as edgar of characters that are often portrayed as the righteous paragon legitimate heirs who come up with clever well-thought-out plans to escape the danger they’re in and ultimately come back to win the day but in reality they’re both actual human disasters who are anything but natural leaders, genuinely have no clue what they’re doing, and are honestly just scared out of their minds

Malcolm 🤝 Edgar

getting accused of trying to/succeeding to kill their own father

running away when things go wrong

rightful heir to a noble title that’s taken by the antagonist

pretends to be something they’re not to avoid the main conflict and for self-protection

is only motivated to come back and solve the conflict when things get exponentially worse
