This one time this person tried to ask me out but I thought she was joking so I said something like “nah I’m good” and didn’t realize she was serious until about a year later. 

Anyway I’m telling you that story to let you know that you gotta be VERY straightforward with me, like even more straightforward than outright telling me stuff.
