Characters in Shakespeare who canonically sing:

Characters in Shakespeare who don’t canonically sing, but should:

–Hamlet

hamlet DOES sing!! after the murder of gonzago when everyone’s running and chaotic he has a little song exulting in his victory

Why, let the strucken deer go weep,
  The hart ungallèd play.
For some must watch, while some must sleep:
  Thus runs the world away.

For thou dost know, O Damon dear,
  This realm dismantled was
Of Jove himself, and now reigns here
  A very very—pajock.

and in 2.1 when he references “jephthah, judge of israel” to polonius i’ve often seen him do it in a little sing-song voice, and i think that’s based on a contemporary song

WOOOOOOO Thank you for this!!

I was looking specifically for stage directions that indicate singing so that one didn’t catch my eye

But it’s wonderful to know that hamlet gets to be involved in Being In A Musical
