reading TCoMC for me is weird because there are plenty of dramatic, groundbreaking, heart-wrenching scenes throughout the entirety of the book that really are supposed to stay with the reader for the rest of their journey.
but me I’m like. there’s one specific line in the book that I don’t think anyone actually remembers because it’s not really that important. and I’ve just picked that one 7-words line and now it lives rent free in my head.
and it’s when the Count is talking to Vampa while Franz spies on them in Colosseum and Vampa goes like
“are you sure you can succeed?”
and the Count says, in French,
“Pardieu !”
and I think about that line every day of my life.
