The 11 Types of Characters that Die in Shakespearean Tragedies

(Every dead Shakespeare tragedy character fits into one or more of these categories)

  1. Guy with very few lines who’s still relevant and/or a fan favorite character
  2. Annoying person who you’re glad will have no more stage time
  3. Tragic Innocent Woman
  4. Main Antagonist
  5. Title character
  6. Comic Relief
  7. Bystander caught in the crossfire of everyone else’s bad decisions
  8. Old Man
  9. King
  10. Someone’s Wife
  11. Guy who’s actually Right in his own way but being correct doesn’t stop you from dying. sorry.

Where do Brutus and Cassius fit in your death categories?

(I spent a solid 10 minutes trying to find where I put the chart of the death breakdown)

Cassius was in the Main Antagonist category

Brutus was in the Guy who tries his best but it ultimately doesn’t work out for him (I know that’s not how I phrased that category in the post I posted- it’s the last category on the list)

(Update: Just checked what I posted- I called that category “Guy who’s actually Right in his own way but being correct doesn’t stop you from dying. sorry.”)
