I don't know if you're that hyperfixated on King Lear or Edmund, specifically, anymore but I'm planning writing an essay about comparing my thoughts about my biological father to Edmund's on Gloucester ( me and Edmund both be rocking the bastard title but I'm fortunately not treated as such <3 ) so if you ever see the link to an essay about such a topic; it's me :p

wow okay so i finished reading titus andronicus a few days ago, and i just finished watching an adaptation of it. and. i. i have so so so many thoughts, but lavinia stands out. i see myself in her so much. i could send an essay into your inbox but i want to know your thoughts on her first !! so sorry this is incoherent i’m in shock of how good titus is. why do people think it’s his worst play there are so many layers

Lavinia is just so tragic. I haven’t seen any productions of Titus Andronicus but I’d love for one to be staged in a way that makes it clear that Lavinia fought back. Give me a Lavinia who bites off a few fingers when they cut out her tongue.
I want a violent lavinia. I don’t want a perfect victim. give me a lavinia who, when titus is killing chiron and demetrius, gets involved in it somehow. She can still kick. She can still hold a knife in her teeth. She doesn’t have to be excluded from the violence.

I don’t think I’d be so set on this staging if she wasn’t right there in that scene. Like she’s there gathering the blood. She could be more involved in the murder too I think
