Y’know, people make a big deal about Jane Austen writing “If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more,” and Emily Bronte writing “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,” but the actual most romantic line in fiction was written by Jonathan Sims, and it’s “Obviously I’m going to tell you if I see any good cows.”
I know it’s been said before, but S2 of the Magnus Archives really is hilarious. Any time that Jon isn’t stalking his coworkers he spends huddled in his office whispering into a tape recorder about how everyone’s out to get him, and every supplemental is just him going, “My coworkers say I’ve been ‘acting strange’ and they’re ‘worried about my mental health.’ Clearly this means they’re murderers.”
I’ve been revisiting season two of the Magnus Archives, and I just want to call attention to this line:
Like, obviously the knowledge that Martin has a crush on him makes this funnier, but even setting that aside, can we take a second to appreciate the fact that his theories for why Martin is being nice to him are:
1. He’s lazy, or
2. He’s evil
and the idea that Martin could just be genuinely nice (or, y’know, genuinely concerned for him after he almost got eaten by worms) just never occurs to him?
I wonder how the French beetle guy and his beetle wife are doing in the apocalypse.
French beetle lover dude, sipping wine in the corruption domain with his beetle wife, as the blue spores fly like snowflakes around him: What a lovely day isn’t it, honey? 😘
Beetle wife: (beetle noises)
FBLD: Awww, I love you too 🥺
I’ve been informed by the tags that Jon says the beetle man is dead.
I am hereby rejecting this canon and asserting that he has been reborn as a beetle, and he and his wife are raising their beetle children in the apocalypse.

Folks outside of the TMA sphere do not understand the intricacies of beetle love. Do they not see the depths? Do they not know devotion when they see it? How cold must life be to not know what true love is when faced with its reality.
I love this podcast and I’m glad I started listening, but god I miss when I used to see TMA posts with no context. Just the most wild incomprehensible shit. It was great.
