I get why Ben Meredith made different acting choices once Elias became a more central character, but I do find it kind of funny that there’s no in-universe justification.
Like, I know they had a lot of other things to worry about at the beginning of Season 3, but I just want a scene where Tim takes Elias aside to be like, “Hey, quick question, why the fuck are you talking like that?”

Also, not to shame Tim and Martin, but I feel like if someone was murdered in my place of work and then my boss showed up suddenly talking in a way that sounded like 300% more evil, I would have put the pieces together faster than they did.
I love the fear-summoning rituals in the Magnus Archives. When you first hear about them you sort of assume they’re these ancient, intricate rites that have to be carried out in a very specific way, but as the show goes on you realize that no one knows what they’re doing, and avatars are all just trying to do something Fucked Up enough to rip a hole in reality.
Like, the Flesh really went, “What if we threw a whole bunch of meat in a hole? Just way too much meat. Do you think that would work?”

You ever think about how, after trying and failing to cut off his own finger for like forty minutes Jon said “haha you know what I need? That horrible monster from those scary stories we collect that warps your flesh in incredibly painful ways, haha what a funny joke I’m making.” And in response Melanie went “oh wow you’ll never guess who we’ve been keeping in the basement.” This podcast is a comedy.
”Do Not Open” is such a weird episode when you think about it. They went, “Welcome to our horror anthology series! In this week’s story, a man is given a coffin and told not to open it. He doesn’t open it. Then the people who gave it to him show up and take it back. We will not explain what the deal is with the coffin for another 60 episodes, but at this point we’re still presenting the podcast as a series of unconnected stories, so as far as you know you’ll never learn what the coffin’s deal is. It’s episode 2, by the way. Hope you keep listening!”
This isn’t a criticism, btw. I love episode 2 with my whole heart, I just think it’s a VERY bold choice
See this is why I love the anatomy students:
I know they’re supposed to be eldritch monsters that prey on our fears of the uncanny and the grotesque, but they just give off the vibe of aliens who watched one season of Grey’s Anatomy and went, “Yeah, we could probably run a hospital.”
Today I was thinking about all of those TMA fanfics that are like, “It’s season 3 but Sasha’s still alive and everyone is friends, fuck you!” And, like, I don’t need those fics to justify their canon divergence, because frankly, it’s more fun if Sasha isn’t dead and Tim isn’t miserable. But I realized that you really only need to change one thing to get this exact dynamic:
Just have Prentiss attack the institute on a Saturday.
We know Jon at least sometimes works on Saturdays (Martin came back from his first run-in with Prentiss on a Saturday, and Jon was at the institute recording a statement) but we can probably assume that Tim and Sasha usually don’t. And if Jon and Martin are the only ones in the building during the attack that means:
1. Sasha doesn’t get not!them’ed
2. Tim doesn’t get traumatized by almost getting eaten by worms
3. Martin probably doesn’t find Gertrude’s body, which (in conjunction with point 1) means that
4. Jon probably doesn’t get super paranoid and ruin his friendship with Tim
So any fanfic writers that want an in-story explanation for why no one is dead and everyone is friends, you can have this for free! (And send me the fics! I’m always a slut for alternate universe - everyone lives/no one dies)
