favourite genre: a guy called jonathan going through the horrors

I like how in many ways the built up to romance is never there in the cassete tapes. I like that we never really knew how Melanie and Georgie went to friends to close friends to lovers to accidentaly starting a cult together. I like that for all they surrounded him in particular we never truly saw how Jon and Martin evolved to distaste to friendship to lonely to dating. We know they became closer somewhere in season 2 because Basira says people noticed they were when interrogating Martin and we know they stayed like that because Jon told Georgie about Martin a lot and we know they are together after the lonely but all the steps along the way… Who knows?

I like that all of them could have that at least. Yes, I would love to see Georgie and Melanie living together and Georgie taking Melanie to therapy and the exact moment they noticed that they were each others most important person. And I would also love to know what happened on the weeks in the scottish safehouse before the apocalipse. But I think is nice that we don’t. That the Web never touched that. That they at least got this small mercy, this small privacy, this little moment not being watched. I just like when a show makes the things we don’t see be by itself a form of narrative.

He always wanted his friends to call him Gerry!!!!!

[ID: a version of the “girls when…” stick figure gore meme. The center of the image shows text reading “girls when” followed by a screenshot of a transcript of the Magnus Archives reading:

Gerard: Gerry

Archivist: What?

Gerry: Gerard was what my mum called me. [Embarrassed chuckle] I always wanted my friends to call me Gerry.“

Surrounding the text are grainy images of stick figures in various states of distress, most of them either covered in blood or crying. End ID.]
