(was thinking about the ‘tim lives to see the apocalypse’ au, wrote this over on twitter)

the others want to save the world.

jon does not.

for what feels like the first time in years, tim agrees with him.

so he takes the lighter. he takes the turmoil and fury of listening to the others plan, as they damn god knows how many other worlds to their same fate.

how many other dannys, other sashas?

how many other jons and tims?

he takes jon’s hand as they ascend the stairs to the seat of the pupil. he takes the knife gently from that same hand he’d been holding, wet with elias’s blood, and grips it tight. and he waits.

when martin and the others come storming up the stairs, he stands right in the front, blocking jon and all his glory as the ascended pupil from their sight. he has the knife. he won’t let them get close. no one gets to touch jon. not until the rest of the fears die.

the others are furious with them, but tim has been furious since he woke up after the unknowing. it’s an anger he’s used to directing at jon, but he doesn’t want to anymore.

he’s tired. jon’s tired. it isn’t mended. there isn’t the time to mend it, but it’s over.

it’s over.

they won.
