I was just looking through the Medusa tag for the new PJO show; and yeah, I like what they did with her character, and I think the changes were well written.

But why haven’t I seen a single post about the fact that she looks like the tall, hot lady from resident evil, Lady Demetrius, or whatever.

I’m relistening to The Magnus Archives, so I’ll probably be posting some of my thoughts.

I think I’ll also try and identify what Fears appear in each episode.

MAG 1, Anglerfish:

• “I have been working as a researcher at the Institute for four years now and am familiar with most of our more significant contracts and projects.” I’m honestly so curious what kind of projects the Magnus Institute have.
• Jon is so sassy, does he realize that this is going to be on an official institute recording?
• Do they ever explain what the deal is with the anglerfish and cigarettes? Cause cigarettes are Web, right? Addiction and all that.
• Sarah is obviously mentioned again later, and I think Daniel Rawlings is in the taxidermy episode, but are any of the other names brought up again?
• It’s literally the first episode and there’s already a Michael (Michael MacAulay) and a John (John Fellowes) mentioned.
• Obviously this one’s The Stranger.

MAG 2, Do Not Open:

• Two episodes in and we have another John.
• Why is the apartment building completely empty? Just cause it’s spooky? Is it from The Buried? Or The Stranger? Or do the entities just have that effect sometimes?
• “That said, I did mention it to Tim yesterday, and apparently he did some digging of his own.” Do none of them have anything better to do with their free time than more of their job?
• The Coffin is Buried, and I think it’s said that “John” is Stranger, as are Breekon and Hope.

MAG 3, Across the Street:

• Is it explained what pushed her? Was it the Not-Them?
• “I decided to turn off the light in my flat, so he wouldn’t see me if he looked up. And then, I went back to watching him.” I’m nosy, but this is like serial killer level nosy.
• “For the next week I’d see him taking out large, heavy-looking rubbish bags several times a day. It took me a while to realise he was disposing of Graham’s old notebooks, but soon enough the flat was empty of them. I think he did other redecorating, but I never got a good look,” I find it funny to think the Not-Them finally got Graham and immediately just started redecorating.
• The Not-Them is Stranger, table’s Web, and, honestly, the statement giver’s probably Eye

MAG 4, Pageturner:

• I’ve seen it said before, but they really do introduce a lot of important characters in this episode, Mike, Gerry, Leitner, Mary.
• “We’ve also been unable to locate Gerard Keay at all.” I like how he just read that Gerry supposedly killed and skinned his mother and still wanted to contact him for follow up.
• Ex Altiora is Vast, the lichtenberg figure is, I think, Spiral, Gerry is Eye, to a degree, and at this point, Mary would be End.

MAG 5, Thrown Away

• Another Michael mentioned in this episode, Alan Parfitt’s brother.
• I don’t have much to say about this one.
• I know Jonny said this was supposed to be something (I don’t remember what, maybe Flesh) but turned out too vague

MAG 6, Squirm

• It’s unclear if Jon just already knew about Jane Prentiss from just knowing about it or if he’s already Knowing things with magic eye powers.
• But if it’s the latter, then he started changing a lot sooner than I thought.
• Obviously Corruption.

MAG 7, The Piper:

• “Still, an interesting enough tale, and I feel like I recognise the name ‘Joseph Rayner’ from somewhere, though for the life of me I couldn’t say where.” Again, not sure he just knows about it or he Knows about it.
• I’m surprised how early Rayner’s mentioned, but I suppose you don’t get a lot about the coffin for a while and it’s introduced in the second episode.
• Slaughter.

MAG 8, Burned Out:

• I honestly still don’t really understand the how’s and why’s of Agnes’s death.
• Again, not many thoughts on this one.
• Raymond Fielding is Web, the burning/Agnes is Desolation, his father had something to do with The Spiral + a Michael mention, and, guess, the tree and apple are Web?

MAG 9, A Father’s Love

• It’s interesting to see Julia before she got involved with The Hunt.
• As far as I can tell, her mother was an ex-member of the People’s Church of the Divine Host, and her father became a Hunter after they sent a Dark monster after their family.
• Like I said Dark monster, her father’s a Hunter, as she would later also become.

As someone who has witnessed old, established fandoms get completely erased under a wave of new content, I’d like to put this request out now as early as possible:

Can we all, please, use separate tags for “The Magnus Archives” (TMA) and “The Magnus Protocol” (TMP*) both here on tumblr and over on Ao3.

There will be some overlap, of course, but searching for TMA should turn up content about Jonathan Sims, the Archivist, and the old established set of characters, while searching for TMP should turn up content about our as-of-yet unnamed new civil servant protagonists and whoever shares the show with them.

I realize that people are going to want to keep using the TMA tags for both personal organization reasons as well as visibility, but I promise you, once content for the new show starts really picking up steam it’ll be easier on all of us if we have two separate tags to keep them straight.

[If we need an overarching umbrella tag, I’d suggest “The Magnus Universe” (TMU) to cover content related to the world as a whole rather than a specific show.]

*Edit: Some helpful folks have pointed out that “TMP” is already in use as a tag for Star Trek “The Motion Picture,” so perhaps a better alternative would be “TMAGP” so we don’t erase their fandom, either.

Since we’re a week out from the official release, it feels like a good time to circulate this again! The Ao3 tags seem to be sorted out, but I’ve noticed a lot of unrelated cross-tagging here on tumblr.

Remember: The Magnus Protocol (tmagp) and The Magnus Archives (tma) are different shows!

There will of course be some overlap, but in general, posts about Sam, Alice, et al. should be under tmagp. Posts about Jon, Martin, and the old gang should be under tma. You’re going to compare Gwendolyn Bouchard to Elias Bouchard? Feel free to tag both! But if you’re just talking about how much you love Gwen’s character, or reminiscing about Elias committing brutal pipe murder, it’s courteous to stick to just the tags for the relevant show.

(“The Magnus Pod” and “magpod” seem to be common umbrella tags, and may be more useful than “The Magnus Universe”)

MAG 10, Vampire Killer

• Trevor was 13 when his father died, in 1956; the statement was given in 2010, so he was 67, making him roughly 77 when he died.
• “While I have witnessed them avoid direct sunlight if possible, and wear generally more covering clothes when moving around during the daytime, they seem to have no significant problem doing so.” Is there a reason for them to avoid sunlight? I really don’t think vampires are Dark.
• “I just lay there watching as its stomach began to distend and swell, the now bulbous belly straining against the black dress it wore.” I’ve seen it theorized that vampires are Web, and this does remind me of the descriptions of Mr. Spider.
• “I certainly don’t believe in wild tales of vampirism, but I can’t help but notice that the statement above appears to be a photocopy of a photocopy, and can’t find these supposed vampire teeth anywhere in the Archives or the Secure Containment Room.” Where are the teeth?
• To be honest, I’m not really sure what entity the vampires are, like I said they’re theorized to be Web, but I see an argument for Flesh or Slaughter. Trevor is a Hunter.

MAG 11, Dreamer

• “It was there, sleeping on my friend Anahita’s sofa, in the depths of my misery, that I first started to have the dreams.” I wonder why The End picked him, most statements have some explanation why they encountered an entity, but Oliver was just trying to sleep.
• Another John this episode, John Uzel.
• “It was your face and the expression upon it was far more fearful than any I had seen in eight years of wandering this twilight city.” We literally hear Gertrude die, and I don’t think she was that scared. Also, poor Oliver, dude hasn’t slept well in eight years.
• “I had Tim look into it, as I don’t entirely trust the others not to have written it as a practical joke and slipped it into the archives.” Sometimes, I think about this too much.
• The dreams are End.

MAG 12, First Aid

• “I followed him asked what he was he was doing. I got no answer, but he seemed to know the code to the door immediately and strode right in, scanning the shelves for something.” I wonder how aligned Gerry was with The Eye, not enough to save him, but enough to Know some things, it seems.
• “I just stood there and watched as he took out the scalpel, muttered some words I couldn’t make out, and plunged the blade into the centre of the chanting man’s throat.” Does he actually have to say something to be able to kill him? Or is he just being dramatic?
• “Admittedly, if Martin speaks Polish in the same way he “speaks Latin,” then he might be talking nonsense again, but I’ve looked it up and it appears to check out.” Does Martin actually speak Polish? Also, I wonder if Jon knows Latin, he seems like the sort that would.
• The unnamed man is Desolation, Diego Molina, I think; Gerry’s Eye.

MAG 13, Alone

• The first live statement giver, and, right off the bat, she insults the institute.
• Jon was originally going to leave her to make her statement, I wonder if he chose to stick around for the later ones, or they all asked him to stay. Maybe Elias made him stay with the statement givers.
• I’m guessing Evan never actually died, just “starved” himself until he went into a coma; Naomi’s loneliness at his funeral gave him enough to call out to her, but he probably had to stay away from her, and go back to feeding The Lonely.
• Girl, you probably should go to a qualified care professional, you lost the love of you life, all your friends, and then got hit by a car, and you decide to vent to research institute.
• Obviously Lonely

The other day, I went to Home Goods with my sister, and I like looking at the furniture and judging the items. So we were in the lamp section, and we saw one of the ugliest lamps I’ve ever seen in person.

It had, what I think are meant to be, oysters all around it, but I was immediately like “ that looks like a ton of vaginas, right?” And my sister agreed. So then, out loud, I called it the lampussy, I said that out loud in a store, where other people can hear me, and I don’t know how to feel about that.

I haven’t actually been keeping up with The Magnus Protocol, is it going to be on Spotify?

I was talking to my brother about Dungeons and Daddies ending soon and what they might do for a season three. We both agreed we hope it’ll be something different. (meaning not the same families)

I feel like it’d be nice if they do a 10 year time skip, at the end of this season, to show the teens grown up and how the world’s doing after they save it. Like, maybe Linc and Scary get together, maybe Normal is starting a family and maybe he names his first kid Hermie, maybe Taylor goes into acting, like his great something grandfather and his mom.

I don’t know, I just think their families deserve to rest and be happy and not have to save the world every generation.

Sometimes I just think about how there was never going to be a happy end for Jon. There was literally no option that wouldn’t end badly for Jon.

1. The actual ending of the podcast. He died a mystery, forced to do the one thing he didn’t want to happen. (Releasing the Fears)

2. He succeeded in stopping The Fears from spreading. He most likely would have had to killed Martin, the man he loves, Melanie, Georgie, and Basira would hate him, and may even try to kill him themselves, (and he’d be forced to kill them) and he’d have to sit alone and watch the world die.

3. He goes along with The Web’s plan. (Assuming he wouldn’t just immediately take Jonah’s place)

• It might just kill him, being separated from The Eye
• He becomes kinda brain damaged, and is a shell of himself without The Eye
• He’s fine without The Eye, but, uh oh, everyone HATES him and are actively trying to murder him. (And he still has everything below this)
• He’s fine without The Eye, and people aren’t trying to kill him - cool, now he can try and live with the fact that he has released The Fears onto however many other worlds after he released it onto this world and caused, what would have been, the literal end of the world. Oh, and also he lives with the memories of what every single person was feeling while in their own personal hellscapes, and was forced to like it.

There was literally no ending where he could have been happy.
