I’m almost done listening to Wooden Overcoats, s4 ep2, and I’m crying about the Funns’ childhood.
In S3 ep3, they got called weird and were kicked out of the scouts.
In s3 ep4 the worst five-word sentence they could think of was “Mum. And. Dad. Are. Back.” Like, what? The worst thing you can imagine is your parents being around? I mean same, but dang, your parents sucked.
And there are other hints that their parents weren’t great, but season 4 episode 2 really just shows how awful their entire childhood was. They were outcasts in the village and everyone hated them, to various degrees, their parents, their peers, their teachers.
At the beginning of the Rudyard’s story Mr. Funn took Rudyard’s lunch money.
In their previous school the other kids called them weird and threw them into ponds. (The previous episode said that Rudyard can’t swim.)
They have a game they play called “happy families”
They got forced to be more active than they physically should have.
They had angry dogs chase them around the school.
Rudyard was told to ignore his imagination to avoid disappointment.
Antigone gets bullied by her peers.
I guess Rudyard was wearing a skirt, but at least that’s not what Mr. Askey had an issue with. No, his issue was Rudyard existing, so he had all the other kids to kick soccer balls at him as hard as they can.
Rudyard gets bullied by his peers, until a teacher comes, and then he’s bullied by his peers and his teacher.
Then Rudyard gets chased around the school by both his teachers.
At least, Ms. Khatri wasn’t really that bad, she encouraged Antigone, and even though she threw away the gerbil, she didn’t show outright disgust in front of Antigone.

The thing about Cottagecore is that is a fetishized aesthetic of country life, divorced from labor and idealized by a primarily urban audience with a backward looking ethos of tradition. They are not prepared for the stresses of a rural life: farming; harvesting; tapping pumpkins to ensure none of them have been replaced with flesh; losing out on income by having to use one of your pigs in a blood sacrifice to paint protective sigils over your doors and windows; checking cracks and chimneys for the flesh-vines of the Pumpkin Lord; having to decide, before the Growth is complete, whether that’s really your tradwife or an amassment of vines, leaves, and blood in the shape of your tradwife; ignoring their desperate pleas that “I’m me! No! No!” as you burn them alive, realizing too late you picked wrong; and the exploitative corporate nature of commercial farming in 2024. All seen through a deeply colonial lens, of course

The other day, at work while I was on my lunch break or something, I was scrolling Tumblr, and I see this post:
It’s just a post about this guy asking the cat not to jump onto a balcony, then, right under that post, this post was on my dash:
So I took a screenshot because I wanted to show my sister, ‘cause I thought it was funny they were next to each other. Anyway, I kinda forgot about it when I finished my break and went back to work.
Where I work, I often take pictures of things so I can just take my phone to check/ask for approval; I’m used to just scrolling through my pictures to show my boss.
So I was showing my boss a picture and I had another picture of the same thing that I had taken earlier that day, so I scrolled back through my pictures, forgetting I took those screenshots between the pictures, and it of course had to show the second photo first.
So now I’m hoping I turned my phone around fast enough that my boss didn’t read the words “Sluttiest thing a man can do is love and cherish his cat”
It’s Valentine’s Day, and while I have complicated feelings about “love” (romantic or otherwise), give your friends some chocolate.
I know the Entities are probably a bit different now, I’ve seen the desire theory, but what Entity is needles supposed to be?
I’m just gonna go ahead and say he’s not Dark or Vast, I don’t really think he’s Eye, Lonely, or Web, but I put them anyway. I suppose he could be Extinction, but I don’t really see it.
My best guess is slaughter; he’s reminiscent of Michael, but not really all that spiral himself.

everyone go enable this immediately. it can be a bit hard to find because “visibility” is under blog settings instead of general settings or privacy. you have to do this individually for each separate side-blog
if you can’t find it on the app then the update probably hasn’t rolled out to you, and you’ll have to go through the web browser. what a truly wild way/time to implement this
