oops, more hazbin scribbles - Vox having A Time adjusting to Hell (and a clunky ol’ portable tv head) in the 50s

annabelle–cane:

so you’re an old man in the victorian era, right? right. and you’ve got evil magic powers and you’re planning to destroy the world with your fucked up magic evil prison. so you give it a go and, whoops, everyone in the prison is dead and it sinks into the fucking swamp. we’ve all been there. but, hey, there’s an upside: if you go down into the swamp-prison and sit in a special chair you get to everything in the whole wide world! well. nowhere with no eyes or pictures of eyes around, nowhere that fucking clown and her posse shack up, not any of the tunnels around the swamp-prison, but whatever. a lot of stuff. and you’re like, great! I can work with this! but then you’re like “hang on. I’m super old and super about to die. I need to pull the ol’ ocular switcheroo.” but hey, this, too, has an upside: you can put your old man body in the special chair while your satellite body goes out and about. great! no more high-chair jail for jonah! but here’s my question: how does that work, like logistically. you’ve probably already picked a guy, right, so you bring him and a melon baller and the finest chloroform victorian medicine can provide somewhere private, you do the deed, you blink a few times and try to get used to the new digs, but now what. is your first warm up errand as this new guy lugging your old man kinda-corpse down into the swamp tunnels and putting it in the special boy high-chair? or did you do all of this in the old prison in the first place to make it easier? did you tell your young man friend “follow me through this trap door into the secret institute tunnels and keep walking with me for a suspicious amount of time”? like what was the game plan here. did your new host think he was about to fuck an old man in a creepy basement before you pulled out the weird spoon.

it seems like website building is about to have a boom, let me share my favorite resource of all time!!

this is a website packed to the brim with website building goodies , including a website layout maker that is the easiest and most user friendly maker i’ve encountered! perfect for creating your own neocities (it’s free!!) , the code even has helpful tips in it for those new to html/css!

i also recommend w3schools.com for quick and easy to follow chunks of html/css tutorials! gifcities is a goldmine for old neocities era gifs, and blinkies cafe is perfect for making your own blinkies!

i can’t wait to see everyone’s websites in the coming weeks and months! remember, it’s fine to take it slow and let it look silly, that’s always been the point of websites like this :]

ps check out our neocities and feel free to drop yours in the replies :]

Statement begins…

Statement of ArCon staff, regarding the third annual ArchiveCon convention for fans of Rusty Quill’s The Magnus Archives/The Magnus Protocmagprool. Statement recorded 23/02/09 by the Official ArchiveCon Tumblr.

Hey archival assistants, avatars, and everyone in between!

Welcome to the official Tumblr for ArchiveCon 2024. We are proud to be hosting our THIRD (!!) ArchiveCon - a fan-lead, fan-run online mini convention for 18+ fans of the Rusty Quill horror podcast, The Magnus Archives (and now Protocol!)

Whether you are an old fan, a new fan, a deeply-rooted fandom denizen, or looking to make your first connections in our fan community, we hope you’ll join us. ArchiveCon may be online-only, but we’ve got all the energy and features of a traditional offline convention - everything from panels and special guests (voice actors, writers, and industry professionals!), to cosplay and games, streaming and discussion, and even an Artist’s Alley.

Here’s the quick rundown:

- June 21-23, 2023 (that’s three days, folks - Friday to Sunday!)

- 18+, online only (Most areas of the con will be SFW, but you still must be 18+ to attend)

- FREE TO ATTEND! (Registration is required and must be done so before the convention starts; you can register here!)

- All events scheduled in PST, but all international fans are welcome and most panels (at the discretion of individual panelists) will be recorded for post-convention, on-demand viewing.

- Primarily focused on The Magnus Archives/Protocol, but fans of all things horror, podcasting, and transformative works will find something to love. The Plain Old Curious are always welcome, too - we have to feed The Eye somehow, right? ;)

For more detailed information and FAQs, visit our website!

Are you an artist? A storyteller? A connoisseur of pulp fiction novels looking for an audience? ArchiveCon is here for you, beyond attendee registration. :)

Artists and artisans of all kinds are welcome (encouraged!) to apply for a slot in our Artists’ Alley. Do you take digital art commissions? Make soap? Knit hats?  All of the above?? (Kudos to you, you must be using superhuman eldritch powers to get all that done.) We’d love to give you a place to showcase and sell your work, reach a like-minded audience, and network with fellow creatives.

Don’t have anything to sell, but want to share your passion for the world of The Magnus Archives and its fans? Then we’d love to chat with you about hosting a panel. ArchiveCon will host panels on a wide variety of subjects including (but not necessarily limited to!):

- deep dives and meta on TMA/TMP characters, plot points, history, and relationships (we love a detailed ship manifesto)

- queer identities in horror and fandom spaces

- the evolution/history of fandom culture

- fan creations and transformative works (such as zines, art, fic and fic-binding, cosplay - you name it)

- friendly discussions and debates

- technical tutorials and discussions on podcast production, streaming, sound editing, etc!

For more insight and ideas, check out last year’s program schedule!

Applications aren’t open quite yet, but we’ll update all our pages when they are.  Hope to see you there!

A horrible, uncomfortable little laugh bubbles in his chest as this chunk of his magnetic tape heart pulls away from the rest, as his wet eyes search Jon’s eyes and eyes and eyes, their two figures framed by those still, silent wings. Of course it was always going to lead to this. Perhaps there won’t be anything left of him, by the time Jon is finished. Perhaps Jon already started devouring him the moment they first crossed paths all those years ago.

He holds out the piece in his bloody palm, nothing more than a dark tangle still attached by a few strands, and takes a slow, shaky breath.

“Take it.”

the way people are inclined to believe jonah magnus who doesn’t believe in fate/bloodlines and who longed to become an immaterial extension of a fear ‘deity’ is more likely to be tory-aligned than og!elias who was raised to believe he is better and more deserving simply because he is a bouchard is honestly. very strange

hey quick question. what was going ON in the CBC basement in 1953

something from my and @paradisepuppet’s version of events where Al & Vox meet and get weird about it before Vox dies. fun fact: his name is not Johnny, Al just started a bit and committed to it

tfw you’re both drunk at the overlord meeting and you think no one can tell

Important part of Jon and Elias’s vibe that I feel like gets overlooked a lot is that Jon is equally as much of a pain in the ass to Elias as Elias is to him. The powers that be hand delivered him the perfect guy to craft a linchpin out of for his two century old scheme and it turned out to be the nosiest bastard in all of London who is obsessed with being right. This is Elias we’re talking about. We’re talking about Mr “Doesn’t Like Getting His Hands Dirty” here. Mr Perpetual Middle Management. Mr “Sat On His Ass For 200 Years Waiting For An Opportunity Instead of Getting Out There and Making Something Himself” getting conned into shaping his antichrist out of the guy who’s first instinct towards dealing with his problems is to take a literal ax to them. It’s like throwing two unsocialized cats in a bathtub together. This is why Elias doesn’t believe in fate

The reason Jon and Elias have this weird psychosexual tension in every scene they’re in together is because they are the same. The reason they are 0.2 seconds away from killing each other is also because they are the same. Do you understand me

another warmup gone a little out of hand!!

Your style is so nice and distinct . I saw your art in the vox tag and was immediately like “THE JONELIAS ARTIST ??” Anyways great work!! I love the way your ink . Very,,, ink-like?

omg that makes me so happy, thank you!! especially since hazbin is SUCH a different style for me. also I LOVE inky things and textures, so I’m so glad I’m succeeding with that!

DO NOT JUST OPT-OUT OF THIS AI THING. NIGHTSHADE EVERYTHING.

Many of you have chosen to Opt Out of Tumblr’s new thing it’s doing where it sells all our art and writing to train AI. But apparently some data has already been scraped and may have already been sent. So I think we’re past asking them nicely not to steal our creative works.

There is a program called Nightshade. It was developed by the University of Chicago (who also made Glaze) for exactly this kind of situation. It corrupts the AI learning data set. You can read the specifics at the link above. The point is, it’s a way to say “fuck you” to anyone who tries to use your blog’s images without your permission.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Make sure that your system is compatible. (Your GPU has to be on this list) If you don’t know what your GPU is, pull up your system search, type in “Device Manager.” In the window that brings up, find where it is says “Display Adapters” and click the little triangle next to it. That will show your GPU.
  2. If your unit it compatible, you still have to download the CUDA Toolkit from Nvidia. Nightshade requires this toolkit because it takes a lot of GPU Memory to run it and they didn’t have the resources to develop their own driver to go with the product.
  3. Download Nightshade from their website. Extract the files to your system, then run the program.
  4. Once the program opens, it will need to download some resources before it’s ready. Once that’s done, you can Nightshade your images. Try to add them once they’re post-ready. Resizing or cropping them could make them less effective. You also have to tell Nightshade what word you’re trying to corrupt. (Example: you have drawn a bunch of pictures of cats? Cat is the word you are corrupting. Your style is anime? Anime is the word you are corrupting.)

I’m still working on putting my own art through the Nightshade program, but in the meantime I wanted other creators that follow me to know a good way to fight back against this absolute bullshit choice made by Tumblr’s leadership.
