Thanks for getting me interested in the Magnus Archive. I can't stop now. But I'm creeped out.

Literally me right now:

The Magnus Archives is so good but yes, absolutely creepy af. I made the mistake of listening to the episode “Tucked In” while (formerly) happily in bed  — fellow TMA listeners you know what line did me in  — and had a Bad Time about it lol. But like… in a good way? I want to send Jonny Sims a card reading, “You gave me nightmares, made me wary of things I’d never looked at twice before, and have emotionally scarred me for life. Thank you so much <3″

More seriously though, I’ll pass on the warning that was kindly given to me when I first started: know that this story is a horror tragedy. It’s been described that way consistently and Sims has been upfront (both jokingly and more seriously) about doing right by the genres he’s writing. I only just started the final season and thus can’t speak to what the current situation is like  — and wouldn’t anyway here because spoilers  — but it’s definitely not going to be sunshine and roses. “Tragedy” can have any number of meanings in a show like this, some more palatable for an invested audience than others, but it’s just good to be aware of. If you’re someone who needs a story where everyone makes it through and receives their Happily Ever After, look elsewhere.
