My final piece for the jonelias zine! Still so amazed i got to work on such a great project with such great people. A wonderful experience all around!!
[ID: a comic featuring Jonathan sims and elias Bouchard from the magnus archives. Jonathan is a dark skinned man with long black and grey hair half tied up in a bun, with gold glasses and a mustache and goatee. He is wearing a blue grey sweater and khaki pants with a button up and tie underneath and is carrying a brown messenger bag. Elias is a thin white man with neatly combed black hair and is wearing a green suit. In the first panel, elias is looking down at the library from the second floor where students and staff are milling about, and jon is saying goodby to someone as he walks away. The next panel is a ¾ body detail shot of jon as he’s walking away. The next panel shows the spiderwebs that are forming in his hair, trailing in the wind. The next panel is a close up of his honey colored eye, a slight web pattern within in. The final panel shows elias, half turned away from the camera with the top part of his face in shadows with only one blue grey eye showing. Behind him is the red pinstripe wall with wood paneling, and framing him on either side are two portraits: the first is of jonah magnus, the top part of his face is out of frame but his name is visible on the plaque beneath it. He has circular glasses and is dressed in regency finery. The second portrait is of an unknown woman with too many eyes who’s face is obscured ins shadows and who’s plaque is distorted with corrupted text. Throughout the panels are small bubbles of speech that read, “I’ll admit, my options were somewhat limited, but my God, when you came to me already marked by the web, I knew it had to be you.”]
The fact that we didn’t get a speech, where Jonah tries to convince Jon to give up his attachment to the people who are using him and to rule by his side, still haunts me
I cannot sufficiently stress how much of an impact Jon telling Elias he needs to know has had on me. every day I wake up in cold sweat, clutching my sheets and praying my gratitude to any god that will listen.
Jon’s been having much darker thoughts recently. It started off as intrusive thoughts that he easily pushed aside, but progressively they got stronger. Now he’s standing over a body and the woman isn’t quite dead yet, but he can’t find the motivation to call for help. He’s never tasted fear so fresh before. It’s addicting.
