the thing about the jonelias dynamic is that if they are completely balanced and see eye to eye (lol) i need them to be on opposite sides of a rivalry. i need them to remain enemies and fight each other tooth and nail with everything they have and for them to be so obsessed with each other that they almost forget their goal of Taking Over, and in the scenario where jon actually joins elias i need him to be the more deranged one, he should be the one to make elias marvel at his thoughts, i need him to make elias ever so slightly uneasy of the man he’s created, to the point where it at one point tips over and actually develops into fear
They “worship” a fear god, so naturally they should emulate that and feed from each other from time to time. If Elias isn’t horrified and mesmerized by what he’s molded Jon into, then what’s even the point!
