Where’s that post about how if Jon’s a trans man Jonah should forcemasc him and if she’s a trans woman Jonah should forcefem her because they were so right. Jonah should crack their egg with a sledgehammer and it should be an extremely painful and wonderful process. Okay. This has nothing to do with my own relationship with my gender. What are you talking about
this one?

I need Elias to be indulging of Jon pre canon, agreeing easily to his request. I need him to be fond and adoring, enjoying his gift without having to keep away. Jon is not the Archivist yet, Elias can enjoy his gift for a little longer
I need for that fondness to be obvious. I need people to Know and see the difference in Elias’ treatment of Jon compared to everyone else. just how much more passionate he is when with Jon. I need Elias to be in a good mood after Jon visits his office and for people to notice it. for there to be a joke that the best time to ask Elias for something is right after Sims leaves his office because he tends to be nicer and more agreeable then
I just need Elias to adore Jon and that adoration being what dooms Jon in the ens

I think in S4 when Jon is struggling, stumbling, wavering between monsterhood and humanity, I think he should be wandering London, at times, trying to fight off the hunger, feeling so hungry it’d be so, so easy to allow himself - who will know? Basira is away. Daisy is not hunting anymore. Melanie doesn’t care. Who will know? Is it really that bad? Doesn’t he need it, to keep everyone safe? Can’t he just– but the voice that’s guilty and terrified and angry at who he is being, like this, is still just strong enough, and he can’t go back to the Institute like this, because then SURELY the girls will realize… Yes, there will be statements, but the hunger, the hunger– he just needs somewhere else, somewhere safe, to think, just a moment–
and before he knows it his hand shakingly grabbing the spare key of an elegant townhouse not so far from the Institute, and he’s going through the door, and the air inside is stale because the house has been unoccupied for a while, and he goes not for the kitchen not for the bedroom, but the library down the hall, the one he went exactly once, years ago, still so young, so stupid, so exhilarated, and he falls into the couch that’s there and something pokes at his side and he says “you’ve got to be kidding me -”
but of course he’s too curious, too famished even, not to press the button of the tape recorder. And Elias’s voice, so soothing, so familiar, so steady, rolls out saying: “Hello Jon. I cannot be certain that you’ll ever think of coming here while I’m…away, but It’s always good to be prepared, isn’t it?” and Jon laughs (and maybe he’s crying a little bit, too. Maybe he’s holding the tape recorder too tight. Maybe he’s feeling the tension in his shoulders loosen, as Elias tells him an old tale of a friend and the terrifying thing that took him because he wasn’t willing to hurt others.)

It actually does boil down to compatibility, doesn’t it. Jon and Martin are out of synch all the time. Peter Lukas wasn’t lying when he said they do not know each other outside of fighting for their lives and bickering. At what point can you call that love and at what point is it just being desperate not to be alone?

the thing about jm is that it would be so good and interesting and delicious if everyone would just admit that they’re bad for each other. jm as an exploration of pursuing a relationship because you’re so incapable of finding value in yourself, you have to outsource that value to the only person you know who likes you. except he doesn’t actually like you, he likes the made up, unattainable version of you he’s held, static, in his head since the first time you met. and so now the only way you can find self worth is by cramming yourself into a role that doesn’t suit you, a role that makes you misersble. but it’s okay. it’s fine. better to be miserable and harmless in a role that will never fulfill you, if it means making this man (the only man who likes you, even if the you he likes is made up) happy, than face the role you actually want, the one that’s dangerous, the one you can’t accept, next to the man you can’t accept sees you better than anyone else does.
but jm isn’t that. it’s just jon and martin saying “i love you alive boy” over and over for 40 episodes straight. which is also interesting. i guess.

Do you ever see a character’s design and your immediate thought is just “they would NOT have blue eyes”
An estimated 70-80% of the world has brown eyes. You not only CAN give characters brown eyes (both OCs and canon characters), you SHOULD. In fact, I am demanding it. Give your characters brown eyes and describe them as beautiful just as much as you do with blue/green/etc eyes.
