I think Jon knows how to play chess and actually really enjoys it but he doesn’t have anyone to play with.
Which is why he should marry Elias, who absolutely 100% plays chess too and would love to have another Beholding avatar to play weirdly elaborate games with where they start to completely make up rules to keep things interesting.
