Steam rose in wisps and curls from the surface of the tea that sat cradled in Jonah’s hands. It rather reminded him of one of his more irritating business partners, so did the oppressive fog that pressed at the windows of the small cafe he was sitting in. Cold grey eyes scanned the sheets of paper in front of him, his notes on the man he was about to meet. Read on AO3 here

Grey eyes opened onto a world utterly unfamiliar to him. The first thing he noticed was the sound of a man crying. The second thing he noticed was that he felt like he had been stabbed. Wearily lifting his head, he looked down at his stomach.

“What is your problem, Tim?”

And well. Tim told him, told him everything and everyone in the Archives watched as Jon ripped the words out of Tim’s head.

The knife was in Melanie’s hand before he had even managed to get to his feet and Basira was calling Daisy only a few feet away.

He hadn’t meant to do it.

But no one cared.
