You know when you’ve been thinking something for ages and it feels normal and then you say it out loud and it sounds so odd and unbelievable that you physically wince but you have to keep going because it’d be embarrassing to backtrack at that point so you just speak it into being normal again?

I know most of my followers are here for mcyt but i need y'all to understand why i like this weirdass podcast so much. Rambling ahead.
Imagine you’re some guy in London. You walk by this big 1800’s building and you’re like “wtf is this” so you ask your friend and he goes “oh yeah that’s the paranormal research guys lmao. Everyone hates them and no one knows where they get funding” Anyway next week a cursed book eats your friend’s face while you hang out so you’re like “well shit time to talk to those research guys” so you go inside and this nice woman who looks completely dead inside tells you to go talk to The Archivist™ and leads you down to a cluttered basement where everyone has weird round acne looking scars. The person you need to talk to is this guy somewhere between 30 and death who looks like he hasn’t slept in two weeks and will crumple into ashes if the wind its him wrong. He brings out a laptop and tells you to begin speaking. Then the laptop bluescreens so he puts a fucking tape recorder on the table and youre like “no” and hes like “yes.” so you tell your story in more detail then you swear you could remember. Then he calls you a liar and also effectively a bitch an accent that he’s obviousy putting o to sound serious and kicks you the hell out.
Then as you leave you hear him crawl under his desk and whisper into the tape recorder like a fucking maniac.
This is only season 2.You just focus on the worms for now
The strongest guy in the Magnus Archives is that one guy who was so obsessed with his dog that he just walked right out of the Spiral because it was her dinnertime
This is one of my favorite episodes. Fears can’t hurt you if you’re chill enough. The guy who walked in a spiral for four hours and then just left because he remembered he had somewhere to be is, to me, the avatar of the entities’ fear

the woman who accepted that she was going to die on the underground, so she just lay down and fell asleep. still takes the tube to work
my favorite thing about tma has always been the avatars who love the fears they serve, who show that love so vibrantly that, for just a moment, they sway you into feeling like you could learn to love that fear the way they do. when jane prentiss said “not loved as you would understand it, a deeper, more primal love, a need as much as a feeling” and when jude perry said “as the heat warped my bones and bubbled my flesh, all i heard was the loving exaltation of my god” and when mike crew said “falling had always held a special place in my heart, that wonderful border between terror and delight” and when manuela dominguez said “and at his words i felt afraid, and my heart soared in terror and elation as my eyes brimmed with tears, for i knew he spoke the truth” and when hezekiah wakely said “i had never felt such safety as within the crushing weight of earth all around me, the pressing embrace of the buried.” do you get me

will i ever get over my own headcanon that martin burns and doesn’t smoke cigarettes between s3-4 and maybe struggles to stop? great question. haha anyway did you know that the bits of your brain that govern smell and memory are very similar bits and that’s why smell is so evocative of memories.
The name Jonathan means ‘God has given’ while the surname Sims means 'He who hears’ and I could write an essay on the importance of the name and how it connects to the plot of tma but I CANT because all Jonny did was PLAGIARIZE his FUCKING BIRTH CERTIFICATE
I adore the vast. We are all insignificant in the face of the universe, vast skies an open waters and we are just small specks in between the two, not quite knowing what’s out there, and we will never know. There are millions of billions of universes and we are just within one, on a rock, floating through time while we slowly rot away. Even here on Earth, we’re still tiny and insignificant because of how large the planet is. Within the grand scheme of things we are nothing and no one ever at any point in time. And the vast forces you to remember this.

Sometimes I think about how Jon constantly displays the instinct to be good and help others, even when they shouldn’t come naturally to him anymore, but he is so preoccupied with barely surviving he never is able to indulge/delve into it. I think Somewhere Else he would take great joy in having the ability to be “good” (both for himself and in a sort of repentance way he would probably feel the need to pursue. Like by helping in food kitchens and such).

So I ironically the Magnus archives helped with my social anxiety because I used to think of God everyone is looking at you everyone knows your deepest secret but now I am just like oh thats the eye talking ignore it
