polycoriad:

everyone is entitled to their own little regency au that lives in their heart and in mine jon gets yeeted back into the 18teens but jonah also inexplicably has all his memories from the next 200 years (i had a wonderful dream!) and is so sure this time he can get the apocalypse done in 50 years max (efficiencymaxing) if he can just sweet talk his archivist (who came back to him 🥰) into being cool about it (because you can only really pull off the ‘trick’ route once) meanwhile jon is running around edinburgh trying to looney tunes drop a piano on him. ideally this also involves at least two full chapters of both of them mutually pretending to have amnesia in an attempt to get the drop on each other

Honestly, there are zero reasons as to why Jon and Martin would end up somewhere else together other than not wanting to give a completely gloom ending to jmart shippers (boring). Jon was stabbed, Martin wasn’t. Jon was the tether, Martin wasn’t. Jon was fully imbued with Eye’s power, Martin wasn’t.

Assuming Jon wouldn’t die “somewhere else”, which there’s no reason for, why would they have gone to the same place unless you get to travel with your stabber?

And in that case… d’you know who also got stabbed and whose stabber was right there? 😃

gooboogy:

I saw a post that’s like “JonElias healthy fluffy dynamics so good” and like yeah that’s great but also I loovee JonElias being so toxic and abusive. Elias who breaks and molds and grooms Jon to be his perfectly overpowered pet. Jon who can do everything Elias can’t. Jon on the collar at the end of Elias’s leash. Playing dreadful mind games with each other like Jon giving Elias a blowy all while vividly imagining strangling the guy to death. And they are both immensely satisfied by this. Absolute rivals. Goading and baiting each other into performing more terrible feats. Elias killing more “loose ends”, Jon hungrily devouring statements from anyone he meets. Elias owns Jon, and Jon blames and hates him for everything. But they are just so devastatingly incomplete without each other. Two terrible forces of power eating each other to pieces, ending the world in a fury of self destruction and ruling the pieces as gods in eternal torment.

Society if Jonah had remembered what it’s like to be terrified thanks to Jon and Jon had discovered what it’s like to be powerful thanks to Jonah. If they had blurred into each other. If Jon had effected change in Jonah the same way Jonah changed him. Do you see.

JonElias week, Day 5: “You have nowhere else to go.” | Post-MAG68.

Elias spends Jon’s ride back to the house stealing glances at him through the driver’s eyes, feeling a curl of satisfaction as he puts together his own idea of what must have happened in the tunnels, an idea that blooms closer to the actual Knowledge of the truth the closer Jon gets to him. He doesn’t indulge in it, though; for once, he wants to hear it first-hand. He wants to hear for himself, in Jon’s words, if something has marked - no matter how lightly - his Archivist tonight.

He’s already waiting, when Jon pounds on the door, but he waits just a moment more before turning the lock and opening up to Jon and the frigid January air.

“Good Lord, Jon.” Elias looks him over, concerned but assessing. “Come in. You look a fright.”

In the split second before the door opens, Jon is afraid. What if it’s the same as it was with Sasha? No, that’s stupid — the driver was fine. Jon thinks he was fine, anyway. He rubs at the back of his arm, hugging it tight to himself.

And then, there’s Elias, awash in gentler light than the street, and he's —

He’s himself. Jon huffs out a hard breath that puffs up in the air between them, and then before he can stop himself, he’s bolting over the threshold and straight into Elias, smashing himself into his chest and wrapping his arms around him. Somehow, Jon is out of breath. His lungs burn from the cold.

“You're—” No, not saying that, that would be insane. All of this, actually, is pretty insane. Jon straightens himself up, looks up at Elias. “Sorry, it’s just.” He laughs humourlessly, his eyes wild and his breath still shallow and uneven. “I’ve had a hell of a time.”
