At the end of the day the couple Gerry Michael or Doorkeay, whatever you prefer, doesn’t make sense.
They are characters that have no way of having met each other unless Eric Delano invited Michael for dinner once when Gerry was like… a toddler, you know? In terms of time it doesn’t make sense, but what I believe happened with these characters is most likely the sunshine x grumpy trope, but the more I think of it is more complicated than this.
I believe that as a fandom we saw two guys who were completely abandoned in some sort of way, touched by the same people (Gertrude, Eric…) and I just think that we collectively believed that these two underdogs gravitated around one another until they found themselves somehow and that’s why I believe everyone represents them as Gerry X Distorted Michael, because what I think happened is almost what @occudo represented in their Gertrude is still around AU, in which Michael tries to kill Gertrude because he is angry at her (RIGHTFULLY) and while I think he would do that, I believe that he is mislead by the energy she leaves and finds Gerry, instead.
Anyways, my point was that I really think that they are a nice, sad couple if you think of it, because they (like Rihanna said lol) found love in an hopeless place, and kind of made the best of it all with what they had, they bonded over the memories of the people they loved and I love that.
Even if they don’t really make sense I like the aesthetic of them and I think they are very cute together.
On another note read Occudo’s stuff because they are so talented it makes me cry, although they don’t have the Gerry X Michael, they have a lot more stuff which is just as incredible.
