Yes, of course we are still listening!!!!

While I adore these characters and am absolutely infatuated with their voices (there is a reason my go-to-resting-spot has been the soft, comfortable jonmartin rot part of my brain for the last weeks), one of my thirst thoughts was like “haven’t these characters suffered enough!!”

Well kids, wether you are getting back into the fandom now, or stayed here the rest of the time like us other weirdos, here is one of the gems I stumbled over while digging through loads of fan fictions to distract myself from the stress and the woe of the world.

Not fine together by asleeb

It is utterly fluffy and involves a lot of neck kisses. It is rated mature – for mild reasons, though (it’s in the tags) – and goes for very soft ace/allo representation. At the same time is written in a way that makes it feel very emotionally grounded and in the moment. The banter is excellent and in my opinion feels very true to both of their characters.

So yeah, if that sounds like your cup of tea, give it a read. I definitely enjoyed lots of it.

[image description:
The first image shows Martin and Jon standing next to a highland cow. Both are wearing outdoor jackets and scarfs. Jon a big red one and Martin a thinner blue one. Jon has brown, pockmarked skin, wears glasses and long, grey-streaked hair pulled into a loose bun at the back of his head. He gazes at the cows head, apprehensively touching is long fur on the top of its head. The cow has long, curved horns, and a short face with only its snout peaking out of the brown, shaggy fur. Martin stands next to Jon, almost a head taller, a very round face and nose. He has light skin, that is peppered lightly with an array of freckles and blond with an ashen shade to it. His expression when looking down at Jon is somewhere between very fond and highly amused. He says “There, now you like a cow.”

The second image is an array of sketches and scenes. On the left side is a sketch of Martin’s face, looking down, smiling. Underneath is a depiction of Jon looking worried and haggard. To the right in a panel of its own we see both of them standing next to a hight coffee table with both their big backpacks stuffed underneath. Martin is holding a small plastic cup, smiling, while Jon bickers next to him in the morning light.
Underneath is a little sketch of them at a bus stop next to a random field somewhere in the highlands. Both are wearing their backpacks. Jon stands there hesitantly. “Seeing the … ‘sights’” he comments. Martin rambles excitedly towards the landscape around them and exclaims “The Sights!”
In the lower left corner is another tiny sketch of Jon giving a surprised Martin a peck on the cheek.

The third image is a drawing of both of them sitting on a blanket in the grass with a pasture with highland cattle, tress and the highlands in the background. We see them from behind. Martin is leaning into Jon, his left hand holding to the back of Jon’s jacket. Jon has his right arm through around Martin and holds him tight, while Martin whispers “thank you for holding my hand.”]

More art inspired by the Use your Words series by @asleeb , because there were just some things I had to get out of my head (and because the brainrot is real). So here is an art dump. :D

[image description: many drawings and little panels depicting Jon and Martin from asleeb‘s safehouse fic. Martin is drawn as a tall, fat blond guy with a round face and many freckles. Jon is small and wiry, with rectangular glasses and grey-streaked, slightly wavy hair, coming down past his shoulders, most of the time gathered in a bun at the back of his head.

The first image shows them sitting on a bench looking out into the wide serenity that is the Scottish Highlands.

The second is Jon standing on a bunch of rocks, holding up his cellphone, while Martin sits bored on a log next to a little path, there are forest trees in the background.

The third image has Martin standing in a white hoodie and dark grey sweatpants in the grass between heather and rocks, while clouds are shifting through the scenery. In the back a small wooden cabin is visible, it looks like Jon might be sitting on the steps leading up to the door. Everything looks grey and wet, with washed out colours.

The fourth image has a lot of drawings of their faces going through different emotions. On the top is it Martin and Jon sitting next to each other. Martin wears a bitter expression on his face. He says: „No, I am feeling mad.“ Jon looks a bit worried, but inquisitive in an honest way, „do you want to be mad?“ he asks. „Yeah!“ is Martin‘s answer. Below that are three sketches of Jon, he wears a long sleeved shirt, that is clearly too large for him. The sleeves are rolled up to his elbow. To the left he is sitting on a couch, looking prickly. His fingers tapping on the backrest of the couch. The one in the middle is showing him doing an eye-roll uttering a „Yes, Martin.“ The one to the right I cannot describe other than soft!Jon: his hair is open, as is his expression – a light smile on his lips and an equally light blush in his cheeks. Below that is another sketch of Jon leaning on his elbows, smiling in a very friendly and maybe almost suggestive way. Next to that is a very cheeky looking Martin giggling, hiding it halfway with a hand over his mouth and blushing ferociously up to his ears. To the right of that is another sketch of Martin but this time he is laughing out full heartedly. Directly below that is Jon again, looking to the side and marking a snide remark about how he is NOT clairvoyant. To the left of that is both of them on the couch. Martin gleefully hugs Jon‘s face against his just and shouts „Read me my tealeaves, Jon. I‘m a Scorpio!“ Jon grunts in defiance. And the last sketch at the bottom ist both of them again giving each other an amused side-eye.

The fifth image shows them sitting on the couch. Martin with crossed legs, holding a mug in both hands and Jon facing him with a glass in one hand, gesturing with the other. They are smiling and talking animatedly. There is a whiskey bottle on the coffetable next to the couch and the details of the background suggest a chimney fire to the left and a small kitchen to the right.

The sixth image is Jon smoking a cigarette outside of the cabin, sitting on the small porch. He wears Martin‘s big, puffy jacket and looks rather melancholic. It’s dark and his figure is backlit by the light coming from one of the widows.

The seventh and last image is Martin and Jon on the couch again. This time we see them from above. Jon is lying on top of Martin. His face buried into the folds of Martin’s sweater. He is clearly knocked out sleeping and tucked under a dark orange blanket from the waist down. His glasses are next to an empty teacup on the couch table. Martin reads a paperback which he holds over Jon‘s head.]
