It’s the worst because it’s not simply bad or mediocre. The writing is extremely good, except for when it… isn’t. It’s a beautiful story ruined because the author thought his protagonist was lame and refused to pay attention to his own best character, they sold out to the worst (and most vocal) part of the fandom (because it got popular as a gay love story instead of a horror tragedy), and the pandemic made things worse.
