I am soso curious about this actually. Also I want to think about my favoritest blorbo and make other people think about them also. So here’s a poll with some Jonships. Can be platonic or romantic. Choose whichever speaks to you most. (Note: this is favorite jonship ASIDE from j/mart. If that’s your fave, pick your second fave here or pick none/no preference please, not other).
No pressure but if you rb w/ tags explaining your choice I will love you forever. Also would appreciate reblogs for a larger sample size.
Why do people think Georgie was telling Jon that he should have died when he woke up from the coma? The way the scene went, he basically jumped out of bed after being asleep for six months and went “hey friends, isn’t it great that I, a completely 100% real human, awoke from a coma with absolutely no physical ill effects other than a deep hunger for statements? I feel perfectly healthy!” And Georgie went “no jon that’s not a thing that 100% human people can do, actually. If you woke up suffering from malnutrition, disorientation, and muscle atrophy, then maybe I would be a little less sure that you are now fully a monster. The fact that you’re perfectly fine is a bad sign.” She never said “actually you should just die.” Why does everyone seem to read it that way? Just because Jon jumps to that conclusion, doesn’t me we have to - he’s grappling with his own inner voice telling him maybe he would be better off dead, so it’s no surprise that *he* misinterpreted Georgie, but we (the audience) don’t have to follow suit.
Babe you literally just said it yourself??? You literally just said that he should’ve stayed dead??? You called him a monster. You pointed out that she called him a monster. And to her, to the podcast, monsters are bad. Monsters are inhuman. In other words. Monsters shouldn’t be alive. Are you that fucking dense???
Also, he didn’t wake up totally fucking fine, jumping out of the bed??? He was trying to move, yeah, but he wasn’t fine. Until the statement. Like. Christ almighty.
Why isn’t there more Magnus Archives salt fics on AO3??? Why can’t I find the wildly ooc fics where it’s very clear that the writer is exaggerating the flaws of characters they hate and using that to bash them in a form a catharsis??? Why is this fandom so level-headed about treating all the main characters with respect??? Where is your rage??? Where is your bitterness???
A variation on the magnus archive’s idea of the Not-Them, moniker: the Cool-You. It’s still a Stranger, I Do Not Know You aligned creature, but instead of a predator, it’s a parasite.
It doesn’t kill you so it can take over your life and haunt kith and kin, instilling in them the creeping dread that you’ve been replaced and they couldn’t even notice.
It latches on to you, following you to every social interaction. When you go to a friends house, people greet the both of you: “Hi Alice, Hi Cool Alice,” failing to notice the strangeness of there being two Alices, nearly identical, in the same place. You standing beside your platonically ideal self, proof of maslovian theorys about self actualization.
The peak of Alicehood is standing beside you everywhere you go, and people notice her, how could they not: she’s you but perfect, but they don’t notice that she shouldn’t exist. They aren’t the prey.
You are.
At the onset, it’s not terrible. She just follows you around shares space with you. Is a little more well-spoken, outgoing, funny. If you tell a dud joke, she’ll riff on it to get laughs. The Cool-you makes things easier as it greases the wheels of social interaction, and you both get attention.
But, doubt sets in. And doubt grows into anxiety: Do people like me, or is it her, the Cool Alice that they like?
Sure people like our company, but do they like her company more than mine, and would they like her company more without me? Hell, do people like her so much more than me that they wouldn’t even notice if I wasn’t here with her?
And this anxiety turns into social agoraphobia (which doesn’t affect cool Alice who is immune to anxiety), and an obsession with her, as you live vicariously through her because its easier to let her take over your life than to share space with her and fight a losing battle for attention as she vaccuums all the oxygen in the room away from you.
Eventually, you decide, holed up in the room you haven’t left in months while she’s been hanging out with your friends, posting to your social media feed, despite your having changed the password so many times, that If she wants your life so bad she can have it.
And you kill yourself in the throes of lonesome despair. But, of course, the Cool-You doesn’t want your life: it wants your misery. And as soon as your dead, you’re not miserable, and it moves on to the next victim.
But, your friend group doesn’t move on. They have to reckon, from their perspective through Stranger, I Do Not Know You’s addlehaze, with the idea that you killed yourself suddenly after months of having been the happiest, funniest, most joyous version of you they’ve ever known.
Theyr left to wonder: Why would Alice kill herself: She was always so happy around us?
Also, the idea that Jon had a fucking support system IS LAUGHABLE.
Oh yeah. It’s totally supportive to tell someone that you’re going to kill them cause they’re a monster and then insult them for being a monster and question if they’re even who they think they are because THEY’RE A MONSTER.
Greatest support system. 10/10. Would trust my humanity and wellbeing in their care.
Seen a lot of people say that JonElias would be “less abusive” than Jmart and I really need those people to open up. Go to a therapist. Google what gaslighting is maybe.
HOW DO PPL THINK JON ELIAS WOULD BE LESS ABUSIVE THAN JMART. HELLO??? HELLO?????? Yea ok yep shipping someone with their groomer would be way more healthy than a ship which major issue is miscommunication due to trauma + a truly HORRIFIC situation. No srsly how do ppl think that wth. What - Rosette
WHAAT??? HELLO??? i have . nothing to say . what . what . - deceit
Season two of the Magnus Protocol is just gonna be Celia (and maybe Gwen later on) in the Protocol universe and Georgie, Melanie, and Basira in the Archives universe tossing the wrong amount of people/monsters back and forth through the rift to balance/close it like a real bad game of interdimensional tennis
By the way “some aroace people still date and have sex” and “it’s weird how internet spaces makes every single aroace character romance and sex favourable” can and should co-exist. Sincerely, an aroace person
I dislike it when people make Jon sex positive. I understand that there are different kinds of asexuality, I’m ace myself, but in the canon universe it’s stated that he doesn’t do it ever.
Welcome to the “whoops! I accidentally started got manipulated into starting the apocalypse!” Club. Members being Jonathan Sims and Mable Pines. They’re both ✨traumatised✨
Melanie should’ve killed Elias, actually, despite how cathartic it was that Jon got to be the one, if only cause I think it would’ve been really funny for Elias to not have lied about the dead-man’s switch, and all of the institute to have died. Including her. And as she’s gasping her last breath, I really think it would’ve been worth it to her.
I have started to viscerally dislike the fanon concept of the season 4 archival workers using Jon’s beholding abilities to win at pub trivia nights.
First off, we only have maybe TWO instances of the group going out for drinks that season, if even that. Melanie wasn’t even there, and there was no indication that it ever became a regular occurrence. In fact, it’s more likely it didn’t, considering their opinion on his lack of humanity and the danger he presented to “”actual“” humans and all that.
And most importantly, what part of THE FEARS CANNOT BE USED IN ANY MANNER THAT IS NEUTRAL do y’all dumb motherfuckers not understand??? And if he purposely used it, he would have to feed. Which they were trying to keep him from doing. Which they would kill him for if he did. Likewise, we have no indication that the Beholding ever actually gave Jon any information that WASN’T about something horrible or invasive either.
I’m starting to get tired of these cutesy, horribly out of character fanon concepts. Stop trying to diminish the canonical fact that they utterly and fully dehumanized him. That Daisy jokingly said that she would THREATEN Basira to force her to go to the only canonical bar night. Because of how little she actually wanted anything to do with Jon.
