You people will get into a piece of media with the most broken husk of a man as a protagonist and then insist on making him normal

The worst part is you’re making him ordinary and well-adjusted in order to fit him into the blandest most common domestic relationship dynamic imaginable. But it’s fine cause it’s gay and also asexual so that means it’s progressive right? Right?

idiot-in-the-walls:

Would Peter Parker be an avatar of the Web. Genuine question

Personally I don’t think so?

When taking into account that the Webs whole… thing is being ‘the fear of being controlled or trapped without knowing it, and your will not being your own, of being manipulated’ — per the TMA wiki — I don’t particularly see that as something Peter Parker does.

If anything. Peter Parker is a victim of the Desolation.

Sending Jon to the MCU to hang with Moon Knight et al and them looking at him like

ms paint drawn figure staring at laptop in horror memeALT

“And people think WE’RE crazy?” <- Guy who is multiple guys cause of his continuous childhood trauma looking at a guy who willingly gave away two fucking ribs for what amounted to a single corn chip.

Actually it’d be more like. Marc nodding sagely when Jon describes the hour he spent trying to cut off a finger and giving advice about a better way to have done it or other options while Jake and Steven are in abject misery about there being TWO OF MARC NOW.

Jon reveals he was orphaned as a child as a way to apologize for seeing with MCU-ified powers what happened to them as kids and Marc absently thinking “G-d I wish that were me”, causing Jake to cackle while Steven is just like “Marc, no-!”

Thinking back on this (cause I’m mentally ill) and thinking of the inkling of a thought I had about them eventually traveling to New York and running into Spider-Man and Jon having cognitive dissonance in meeting Peter.

Cause like. “I’m allowed to know what Spider-Man is.” Cause like. What if teen Jon, after the movie came out in 02, decided to use him as a way to get over his arachnophobia (failed). What if, despite that, he still kind of ‘looked up’ to him. Casually. Cause like. Great power DOES come with great responsibility. As he was well aware of.

Then he’s transported to a place where Spider-Man is real and just over half his age and he has to grapple with the dissonance of a CHILD being someone he considered stronger and morally superior to himself. Because that is a CHILD. A child should not have that weight on him.

Idk. Like I said. Oooo I’m ~mEnTaLlY iLl~

At this point the only thing I do when I go through the tags is block role-players and JonElias shippers. And anyone who makes the usual five jokes everyone makes cause they’re brain dead.

can you IMAGINE being jonathan sims? your scary boss tells you he’s making you the head of a department You Don’t Work In, that requires degrees you don’t have, and when you ask him if you can at Least have a training period you’re told you can’t because the previous person who held that position “Died in the line of duty.” nobody ever elaborates on what that means

i was trying to be nice and unbiased and therefore i wasn’t a fan of Melanie in the past but like now i can very much admit to being biased and like idk i like melanie i think she’s cool and maybeeeee if she was a man she’d pmo but like whateverrr because she’s not and she’s interesting and she doesn’t piss me off like martin does and i love her tbh 🔥🔥

cardentist:

I KNOW it’s all just jokes, but I’m rewatching the magnus archives and the sheer amount of popular posts poking fun at jon for being a “skeptic” in season 1 feels like watching someone lose chess to a dog

I’ve rarely related to a character more than I related to Jon during this exchange 😂🤦

Poetry goes right over my head. It’s too abstract for me, usually, proooooobably because I’m autistic. I prefer prose that is point blank and slaps me in the face with its meaning.

I also used to think all or most poetry was bad, until I relaxed and realized that 1) there is a broader expanse of poetry out there than the stuff I’d been exposed to that I didn’t like, 2) everyone’s artistic expression is different and that’s a good thing! And 3) not everything is meant for me to understand. As long as the poet enjoys it and feels like they’ve expressed themself, that’s all that really matters. Me getting it doesn’t matter at all, because it simply isn’t meant for me.

So anyway, instance #5,387 in which I related to Jon The Archivist Sims. 😂

In a similar vein to the last ask you responded to, I’m going to Hilltop with a friend who’s been procrastinating the last three eps of Archives for almost a year now. (In fairness to them, I am a similar — if not worse — brand of crazy and got stuck in between acts 2 and 3 of s5 for several years). Do you have any words of encouragement for them to finish Archives before Hilltop and avoid any potential spoilers for Archives that may be in Hilltop?

rqbossman:

In that specific situation, I pretty strongly suggest listening to those last three episodes. You’ll be glad you did.

lunehowls:

(MAG185) been bouncing this scene in my head for a while

On that note. Tomorrow. Fucking. Tomorrow. Oh no.

manueladominguezliker:

Oh fuck off with your no spoiler policy.

I just need to know which of the choices from that poll I made was correct 🫩😔

Who did Jon actually suspect in TMA season 2?

An age-old fandom joke is to make fun of season 2 Jon for “accusing Tim and Martin of murder” and “he suspected everyone but Not!Sasha.”  I’m on a roll from my “did season 1 Jon dismiss statements” series, so now I gotta tackle this one!

My main goal is to point out the times he DID suspect Not!Sasha–and was the only human on the team to do so–but for the hell of it I’m going to keep a tally of how many times he mentions investigating/suspecting each person.  I’m also going to note other out-of-place things Jon noticed, some of which were due to Leitner, but definitely played a role in confirming that someone within the archives was being deceptive.

I’m getting angry about how the fandom portrays Jon again :(

martinblackwoodhaterfan:

I’m not saying that Jon could have avoided his fate if he had better friends, but man. So much unnecessary shit could have been prevented if the people in his environment actually cared about him and didn’t just view him as more of a problem than a person

Jon, as a kid, had a habit of wandering into places he shouldn’t. So I propose as a teen he discovered parkour and that’s how he was able to get into Gertrude’s flat and also in his downtime he dresses like a skater in layered short sleeve over long sleeve shirts and wide legged pants. He alternates between wearing Converse and Vans but he prefers Vans.
