I’ll be so honest with y'all, I always thought Martin was written to be an intentionally dislikeable character (like s1 Jon) for like character development or something, and then I was even MORE sure of that by season 5, and then they just kinda never touched on it and the fandom was all obsessing over him and it’s like?? What do y'all see in him unless you relate to him omg 😨

You’re really freaking up my words here tho, because The Lonely as an entire fear is boring compared to the rest of them, not just Martin (though especially him). Also I didn’t pick up on any subtext so oopsies sorry if that was actually clear and not just you projecting. Those portrayals can obviously be done well, and come across effectively if done right, but since I would never relate to that cunt everything he does just annoys me so incredibly, so, erm… probably a poor example.
Would still have been cooler if they portrayed that decline through, like, pretty much any of the other fears tho 🤷♂️🤷♂️ The Vast… it could’ve saved him, focusing on the isolation… The Stranger, even, focusing on the out-of-place feelings amongst a crowd. That bloody runt of a Fear could be picked up so easily by any of the other Fear Entities and no-one would know the difference, it is not a real one.
