i have recommended tma to 5 different people in the past three months, and 4 of them have come out of it with martin as their favourite. solutions to this horrible problem?
you need to start propoganda early so they go into it enlightened and unbiased and hating martin. you can always convince them. it’s never too late.
I'm on my second listen of the podcast and just reached season 5. Up till now I was mostly positive-neutral on him but his attitude with regard to Jon's statements in season 5 is just. weird and horned in? Like I love season 5's statements, the fears poetry really speaks to me a lot, but having to every episode have Martin be like "I'll leave you to it then" or "I don't want to hear this" just makes him seem whiny? Like no Martin, you have the best deal of anyone on the entire planet, you are not above the suffering of others. Listen to it and actually understand the gravity of what has happened to YOUR world.

unfortunately yes. maybe if he revealed that, since it was a podcast format, he had actually been wearing a (NOT cool) wizards outfit throughout the entire podcast, and had been dealing with the consequences from that.

honestly, the blog thats just hating on martin is like the biggest fucking red flag you're just showing to the world. like if you have such intense and visceral hatred for a fictional character that you make a whole fucking blog about it not only do you clearly not have enough good things going on in your life but you're so clearly such a spiteful and hate filled person. also just the way they respond to hatred is even fucking more of a red flag. stop being a condescending asshole, stop acting like people arent allowed to hate you because they've blocked you (like i have), and just stop responding to hate. no one wants the person they hate to be saying "awh, why?" to them when they say they hate them. i dunno if its just me but that blog is like the most clear and confident way ive ever seen someone display all of their red flags and one of the most viscerally red flag things ive seen(🗣(dont feel the need to contribute much emotional energy to this if you dont want to i just sort of needed to rant about this and i get it if you dont want to respond prioritize your mental health!!!))

i like pretty much all the avatars (esp Jane <33), and i love sasha. i really just listen for the statements tho so i don’t really get into individual characters other than like jon and the avatars
I am at peace. I have realized that your opinions on a character do not affect my opinions and that we can hold hands and have harmony in the world between the martin haters and the martin likers. Because in the end it's literal fiction, and I don't have to agree with you to respect you. Also, you're quite funny, and I have the ability to block you hate tags so I don't have to interact with the hate if it makes me uncomfortable.

I feel like most tma listeners that ship jmart fundamentally misunderstand their relationship, especially in season 5, or maybe not entirely misunderstand it rather than oversimplify it to the point of it becoming a caricature.
Its like those chatacter A character B tropes, where everything is just surface level, and the characters involved are reduced to one-dimensional distortions of who they originally were.
I mean, they tend to see it as "spooky-but-soft monster-boyfriend" Jon, and "big-protective-revenge-seeker, mr. Killing Spree" Martin. And they entirely miss the aspect of Martin being uncomfortable with Jon's need to make statements. He is surrounded by horror from all sides and yet he cannot stomach hearing his boyfriend talk about it for a little while. I understand that it is no easy task, having the terrible experiences of tortured people hammered into your skull repeatedly, but he could've at least TRIED to show some more support, ESPECIALLY since he knows firsthand what it's like to be alone when you're hoing through a difficult time.
And in the end, when he stabbed Jon with the knife, I am sure that somewhere deep down he thought that Jon deserved to die.
I don't have a problem with people liking Martin. You can enjoy whoever you want, but in my experience most Martin fans just look at him being shy and having a crush and writing shitty poetry and go "omg thats literally me!!!!1!1!" and then they don't even bother to try and think of him as a whole, separate character, rather than just an extension of themself and someone they can project onto.
