I am re reading the transcript for mag 167, specifically Martin asking what Jon would have done had he known his death would release the assistants. “what would you do with the information that your deathwould free people? would you tell the people who want you dead that your death would free them?”. this is just not something you should ask your boyfriend who is already suicidal and has felt guilty for being alive for most of his life. it’s even worse considering Melanie blinded herself to escape the Institute. he is doomed no matter what he does because no matter what at least one person would have to face the choice of him living or dying to free the rest
