THIS ACTUALLY. One of the dearest things to me about Jon (because oh how relatable 💔) is how much he interprets everything about himself as weak or shameful. TMA demands our empathy to figure out that you can’t take what this man says at face value. It demands the kind of empathy you should be exercising IRL when faced with similarly depressed and traumatized, negative-self talking, unreliable narrators.

Engaging with TMA is an exercise in understanding trauma and what it does to a person (and that’s so deeply intentional on Jonny’s part) and that may be the number one reason why I love it so much.
