Jon stops blinking, at some point. He knows he could pinpoint the exact moment that he stops if he tried, and that is somehow worse, so he doesn’t. He can close his eyes if he consciously makes the effort (though, of course, that doesn’t stop him from seeing). It’s just that this automatic function of his body has shut off. It won’t be coming back, will it?
