A year old WIP finally completed 😔🎉
Yeah I really liked the process behind this one and ITS MY BLOG I GET TO YELL ABOUT IT! You don’t actually need to read any of this, I provided the in process pics cause some people like that stuff. But if you wanna read my process, it’s down below. 👇
I drew the concept on scratch paper about a year ago and I’ve been chipping away at it once every SEVERAL months. I know the core things I wanted, cause at the time I had finished Archives and was throwing myself into season 1 Protocol and got to actually listen to the episodes coming out. I wanted Jon’a attention down at Sam, like he was actively aware of the situation cause he too had gone through it, and he’s so deeply concerned. But Sam doesn’t see back because he’s absorbed in the statements FR3-D1 is feeding him.
Then there’s the big changes I made around Jon. Like sure, originally the static mist coming out of Sam’s computer mimicked the shape of the tape from the tape recorder on Jon’s side.
But y’know what’s cooler- if the electrical tape make spider legs. And give him an eye Halo. And the more protocol went on, the more Sam would get sucked further and further obsessing into the statements from the computer- so he and Jon each get themselves tangled by the elements surrounding them.
Then I dived into lighting and wanted Jon to be illuminated by the signature green while Sam gets red respectively for protocol, but the lighting of the other each being reflected from underneath them? So you get like a nice main light source and then a creepy complimenting light source from beneath them. It helps make everything feel light it has more dimension.
