You’ve all seen trans Jonah Magnus takes but let me raise you something more controversial - agender Jonah|Elias.
Not in a way he always felt like that but that his gender perception shifted over time. As he was changing body after body he stopped being so focused on performing what is expected from masculine individual and stopped seeing himself as one specific person overall.
He wouldn’t even realized he’s doing that till he might be forced to steal body of some trans man one day and he expected the feelings of dysphoria he was used to to come but he felt nothing. And he realizes his gender is no longer any important part of how he perceives himself and then he couldn’t care less now over how someone else thinks he should act or look…
I’ve seen lots of takes wondering about how would Jonah react if he saw himself as Elias - if he would be horrified of what a ruthless and evil person he became…
I’ll raise you a take that Jonah would be greatly disappointed seeing Jonalias. Because Jonah used to be more focused on the goal more willing sacrifice everything and everyone to achieve what he wants.
Jonalias on the other hand grew a bit too comfortable he knows he can always just snatch another body so he likes to play it all safe and not to rush anything and so if Jonah saw his future self he would feel disappointed and angry of how soft and lazy Jonalias is.

I think that lonelyeyes fanfics are not using often enough the comedic potential of them having different body type and then drinking. I mean we all agreed that Elias is a twink and that Peter is a big boy man. That mean that if they drink exactly same amount of alcohol Elias will become drunk much quicker.
Where’s the trope of helpless Peter being way too sober as his husband starts telling him sone anecdotes about his Georgian friends?
I just saw fanart of Dorian Gray and my first thought was “Oh, is this Jonah Magnus?”
I’d like to imagine that Jonah didn’t hold grudge against Fanshawe after he decided to cut the connection and disappear from his life nor he planed to act against him.
However he kept sending him letters. He wasn’t writing in them anything interesting. Mostly about weather or about boring paperwork or simply about his day. The content of the letters really wasn’t the point.
Jonah just wanted to remind Fanshawe from time to time that no matter where he moved no matter where he trief to hide he still knew his exact position. At even though he was not about to hurt him in any way he could if he wanted…

Jon might have a cactus in his office… It’s only plant he can keep alive because cactus is perfectly fine with being watered only every two months when Jon remembers.
Martin killed his cactus in season three when he was trying to take care of it while Jon was away. He is great person to ask to take care of your plants but cactus couldn’t handle his extreme care.

Since Peter Lukas believed in Extinction did he ever try to be more eco friendly? You know to delay it’s arrival?
I just think it’s funny to imagine him carefully sorting the trash in appropriate recycling bags. Then Elias comes, looks at his work and throws it all together in one trash bags because Extinction doesn’t exist and also who cares about recycling and ecology is nonsense.
MAG 86 Tucked in (also known as “The blanket never did anything” episode) always annoys me so much!
The guy talks about a monster which hurts him and says it will arrive again tonight and is like “well guess I die?”
He doesn’t try sleeping in a room with some other person. He doesn’t try not sleeping at all at night and sleeping during day. He doesn’t try to prepare himself and take some weapon. Hell, he could ask at Magnus Instute if they won’t send researcher with him to witness it as did that old man haunted by Spiral in MAG 27 A Sturdy Lock. He just accepts his fate.
Anyway in conclusion Benjamin Hatendi has completely opposite energy than Joshua Gillespie.
Every one keeps making jokes about how dumb it was from Jon to shake Jude’s hand and how he should have expected to get burn but what else could he do?
You can hear how hesitant he is to agree he knows it’s a trick but also he doesn’t see any other option to get what he want.
Because, you know, Jude insisted that she will give Jon location of Mike Crew only if he shakes her hand. If he refused and called her out she would probably shrug and walk away not telling him what he wanted.
You think if Sasha was the Archivist she wouldn’t shake her hand to get the information? She literally went to the location Michael told her to because it was only way to get information about a thread they were all facing she would definitely shake Jude’s hand as well.
My favorite lonelyeyes trope in fanfics is when people know Elias has husband but they only heard about it some rumors nothing concrete. And so they imagine some handsome businessman or some pretty trophy husband and then they are shocked when they find out he’s married to a sea bear.
I still think it would be so incredibly funny if tapes weren’t part of Web’s plan and when the last one would end we would hear a voice of some new Archivist disregarding it all of it as complete nonsense and very elaborate joke.
Oh, even better idea what if tma had open ending and the last tape ended in the middle of some confrontation between Jon and Elias. Then we would hear a bit concerned and curious Archivist and in the middle of their speech Elias (probably not as Elias some new body but still voiced by Ben Meredith so he’s unmistakable) walks in asking archivist how’s the listening going or even he could be asking them what are they listening…

Does Jonny Sims exist in universe as well? I know the year of publishing Thirteen Storeys doesn’t add up but you know so Jon can as well share name with horror author… 👁️
Peter and Elias dancing together but it’s that complicated dance that was common during regency era because Jonah never bothered to learn any newer one and Peter didn’t know how to dance at all before Elias thought him himself.
When Elias finds out he’s run out of something (like milk, coffee, wine) Peter always offers him that he’ll go get it.
The catch is he leaves for his trip in the Lonely first. He just finds very funny returning after six months with greeting: “Hello, my dear husband, I’ve got you those eggs you wanted…”
The first thing Elias does upon his return is naturally handing him divorce papers…

Bare in mind this was a marriage held together by mutual animosity. These people loved to fight and they would not leave each other because they wanted to be there when the other person died so they could look down and say “I told you! I told you this would happen.”

This is now my favorite line out of context which could nicely described every marriage of Peter and Elias.
Elias once called Peter husband on accident when they were divorced and rather than admitting his mistake he convinced Peter that they are married at the moment (it was quite easy because Peter doesn’t bother to keep track anyway.)
I wanted to share nice headcannon about Albert von Closen introducing Jonah to Sachertorte but sadly it wasn’t invented till 1832 so nevermind…
Peter and Elias are never celebrating any anniversary of getting married. They do, however, celebrate anniversaries of getting divorced.
Important question here! Does Jonah celebrate his original birthday, Elias’ birthday or day when he snatched Elias’ body?
My personal guess is all three. Or maybe literally all the birthdays of all the bodies he ever had. It means more cake for him.
Do you think Jonah was first Eye avatar starting his own Institute or that he copied someone’s else idea? I mean yes the classification of fears was put together by Smirke but the Entities and their avatars existed long time before.
We know that US version of Magnus instute is Usher Foundation in Washington DC founded some time after 1952.
And also that China version of Magnus instute is Pu Songling Research Centre in Beijing.
We also know that Magnus instute has certain amount of connections with both of the institutions.
At first I wanted to speculate how much the institutions know or ate interested in his plans because of course it would be kinda funny if other servants of the Beholding were more interested in knowing for a sake of knowing and saw Jonah|Elias as that annoying self absorb british prick…
But upon closer examination of the little lore about other supernatural research organization we have there’s also this part:
Jonah|Elias was discussing his Archivist with other servants of the Beholding which implies they are at least approving his plans for Watcher’s Crown if not actively helping him.
However the question still stands. Was Jonah the first start an Institute and did he helped found the others? Did he copy the idea? Were these institutions created independently on each other and decide to cooperate because of having same patron and the same goal?
I haven’t seen lately any discussion about this topic which is shame there is really quit a lot of potential…
I don’t understand Gertrude Robinson / Elias Bouchard shippers because they are missing the potential of Gertrude Robinson / James Wright.
First thing - there’s about twenty-five years age difference (body-wise) since Gertrude Robinson was approximately born in 1945 while Elias might be born around 1970? And also as is apparent from Eric’s statement Gertrude knew og Elias and probably didn’t have a highest opinion of him at first and when he changed she was very suspicious of him…
Now I don’t say Gertrude / Jonah isn’t good or intriguing dynamics… But why Elias? You have there James Wright who might have been about Gertrude’s age since Jonah was still Mendelson when he hired Gertrude? At the beginning of any potential relationship/angry hook up she might not even be suspicious that he’s involved in some of the things happening it gives a potential of her paranoia towards him and what he knows growing over time while at the time Jonah doesn’t seem Gertrude like an enemy yet he see all the great potential of his Archivist who’s at that time still doing more or less what she’s expected to be doing…
Anyway that’s probably all I wanted to say. Apologies for my maybe unpopular opinion but GertrudeJames > GertrudeElias.
