Thoughts on some of my favorite takes on lack of communication in lonelyeyes in no particular order:

• Elias and Peter genuinely love each other but they would never admit that because it would not go well with the personas they built for themselves and also what if the other one is just toying with them?
• Peter loves Elias but would never admit that. Elias does not reciprocate his feelings at all but he likes to be admired so he just keeps him in uncertainty.
• Elias loves Peter but would never admit that. Peterbdoes not reciprocate his feelings at all but he feels no need to explicitly state that plus he thinks that like this he is making Elias feel more Lonely.
• Neither of them actually loves the other, they barely care about each other’s fate. They just both think they are the one in control.

…the point is that in the end all of above looks exactly the same because of the need to keep the other one at arm’s length.
