To lower number of divorces - and the amount of paperwork it creates - Peter and Elias have a rule that they won’t get a divorce for the same reason twice. They have disagreements about almost everything so it would be tiring and pointless arguing about the same things again and again.
However it can be sometimes hard to remember whether they’ve gotten divorced for this exact disagreement yet or not and so Elias always creates detailed files to keep track.
There is quite lots of them and not even Elias can always fully recall the system he used for sorting them so sometimes they just decide to stay together because it’s too much work to trying to check if they’ve already split up because of something.
Even when they’re willing to put the effort into it they very often they forget about what they’ve been fighting about as they get caught up in nostalgic memories of their divorces.
