Summary:
Every person was born with an animal companion, the creatures were said to match your soulmate, a reflection of them in a way. They were supposed to guide you, to help you find them and keep you happy.
He wouldn’t know any of that until much later, no one would take the time to explain it to him because his family thought he didn’t have one and were happy about it. So they left him to his own devices.
