The origin of Magnus as a surname in the UK trace its roots back to Shetland, Scotland from its arrival from Scandinavia.

To me it seems logical that someone close to polytheistic pantheons would be from an area in the UK that already had support from similar viewpoints. (Scandinavia having the Norse religion.)
