i feel like parasight act like they wouldn’t care if the other got hurt (it’s so easy to lose people when you’re an avatar. safer to not care.) but at the same time, they’d get weirdly protective of each other real fast.

jane’s a very new avatar. someone might see her as competition, try to take her out too early. that’d be inconvenient and cause problems for jonah’s plan. so, obviously, he has to protect her at least a little bit. it makes perfect sense. it’s all just a part of the plan, for sure.

jane’s reason is a lot more simple: jonah magnus is of the corruption. in a way. or at least close enough for her to consider him a part of her hive. the hive must protect its own. even the clueless little parasite that thinks itself a watcher of some sort. he’ll realise soon enough. she has to make sure he survives long enough to realise this is where he belongs.
