My favorite addition that Magnus Protocol adds to Magnus archives perception is that it adds many different avatars which are not connected to the grand narrative at all
Don’t get me wrong, I love our tma avatars and how you can say “ THAT’S MY BOY/GIRL/THING” every other episode, because the Web had connected them all together, but it unfortunately led to the perception in fandom that these characters are so integral, that stories in this universe just cannot exit without any one of these characters being present in the same room at least in some form
Magnus protocol just has many avatars in many places doing many things that our main character might never know or be a victim of! And it makes the whole universe just breath with new set of lungs I’m telling you
An itch to be wanted , to be used , to be useful, to feel ecstasy of teeth sinking into the flesh before it starts rotting and no one will want it anymore
Well. It has most certainly….been a while. You could say. I’m not gonna lie and say I’m back though, I may not be. I may be. I may not be.
Commissions are open if any of you lot are interested! See my pinned post for details, thanks. Let’s hope this post doesn’t fucking topple off the face of the earth
I got to Episode 102 in my relisten of The Magnus Archives, and it is just absurd to hear Melanie tell Jon that her situation is “all your fault”, especially after he’s been kidnapped for a month by The Stranger.
How is her taking a cursed job that several people tried to warn her away from anyone’s fault but her own?
I believe Jon gets scolded later by Basira for pointing out that Melanie is a danger to herself and others and about to become an avatar of The Slaughter, because she found her violence useful. And he puts himself at great risk to save her from the ghost bullet in her leg… which she seems to consider “all his fault”, despite Basira being demonstrably the other half of that plan.
And Helen Richardson, actual Spiral avatar, is meant to be fine because Melanie likes her.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this character being a hypocritical jerk! But I find it odd that she’s treated as reasonable, and even noble, by the narrative.
(and I will always find it funny that #tma means a tag for a horror podcast and not some silly trans discourse)
