I just wanted to say ur art is so pretty!!! Like I love the colour schemes you use for all your works!! And ur interpretations too are just 👌👌ur def one of my fav artists on here!! Also you don't have to answer this but I was just curious how you imagined the panopticon looking like in S5? My brain always fluctuations between picturing it like Sauron's tower from LOTR and a really tall skyscraper with that hostile spiky architecture at the bottom but with Victorian gothic architecture flavour bc Jonah's extra like that.
I imagined it as like half watch tower, half cathedral
I don’t usually include my notes on my drawings but I thought this was pretty cool so here’s my condenced (ish) thought process:
I approached this like all my other illustration: what is compelling about the concept? What intrests me? What motifs or designs can I include? So I boiled it down to a few things
1. The tower is cool because of the lore behind it (millbank prison, the panopticon, the archives, and how you can see it across the whole apocalypse)
2. The functions are interesting (a fancy watch tower archive combo, but it’s also Jonahs tomb and the point that the rest of the apocalypse balences on and stems out of)
3. The Tower tarot symbolism
SO I decided to include three sorta main architecture styles to represent the prison, the archives, and the fact that is described as a cathedral. I added Griffon Vultures to both hint at the impossible height of the tower and also to represent the falling figures in the tower card (I thought doing Jonah and Jon would be too on the nose). I added lightning striking the “crown” of the building (also for the tower card).
