so, originally it started out as just a visual prop of sorts for the piece, since i really like lorikeets and handle them a lot, theyre lovely little guys with kinda freaky parrot eyes (tbh most parrots have freaky eyes) so i thought itd be a nice subject for an elias focused piece

but the more i thought about the more i got reeaally attached to the idea of the lori actually exsisting and mainly staying in the archives so he kinda turned into what i guess you could consider an oc LMAO.

anyways, this is lucius , lucy for short (yes og!elias named his bird after a stoicist)

my idea was that it was og!elias’ pet parrot, i thought itd be a good way to show his eccentricism as wealthy people are sometimes shown owning expensive tropical birds in pop culture (loris are australian but besides that, somewhat expensive bird)

jonah ends up keeping the little guy after overtaking elias’ body and grows fond of him, so he becomes a bit of a surveilance bird, not neccessarily needed to get closer look at things, but might as well put him to use -> lucy gets marked by the eye too i guess??

he hangs out in the archives creeping around a lot, but most of the staff just thinks its some weird mass hallucination and when jon brings up the bird hanging out in his office the others just accidentally gaslight him about it saying its just some weird effect of the archives no one knows why

its very affectionate towards jon specifically as hes the archivist, only being more affectionate towards elias himself obvs, he really doesnt like martin tho…

i have more to say cuz i thought of little scenarios but dont wanna make this ramble even Longer LMAO

hello! i'm here to ask about your parrot hcs

cuz now im convinced that birds work for the beholding, and the eye powers..? just parrots sitting in the corners of every room in the institute lol (also, love your art!)

birds being associated with the beholding would be a pretty funny concept tho BWAHA (and thank you !!!)

i had smth similar in mind but with just One parrot belonging to one Elias Bouchard that silently creeps thru the insitute, usually only appearing for a second and is gone the moment someone goes to do a double take at the colourful little parrot on a file holder or a shelf or a monitor

but when jon becomes archivist it does nothing but cling to him and stay in his office almost all the time heh

Idk how far you’re into TMA, so I won’t spoil anything, but I wanna know how Lucy and Elias get along! Does he give Lucius treats for doing a good job spying on the Archives? Does he talk to Lucy??

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LIKING LUCY…. and worry not for i have finished all of TMA by the time i came up w lucy, it was actually ep 190something that was abt elias that made me think abt him way more

current day elias gets along really well with lucy !! id almost say he even dotes on him a little, younger elias adored him as well but he didnt spend as much time with him by the end, meanwhile nowdays hes one of the only beings (maybe besides jon) that elias is outwardly affectionate towards, he doesnt ramble to him but he does praise him and talk to him occasionally during the day, less when lucy starts spending most of his time with jon, which elias is quite satisfied with anyways

id think jonah found him just a fascinating specimen and took pity on poor lucius, and thought to see how involving a live animal into the “worship” of the eye would work, and while lucy obviously noticed something Changed about elias (parrots can be very perceptive) he just ends up warming up to this elias, especially since he treated him very kindly after essentially adopting him

he starts out calling him just Lucius, but calls him lucy when hes feeling particularly doting

but in short lucy gets nice treats and scritches from elias mostly cuz elias likes him whether or not he spies on the archives, but being the buildings little surveillance bird definitely makes him proud
