hiya! sorry if youve already answered this question before, but im wondering how you learned panelling in your comics so well.. whenever i try its a hustle to figure out whatll look best and not so cluttered lmao
im also wondering how you have so many wonderful ideas for comics 😭 im trying to start drawing comics more and yours are always huge inspirations but im unfortunately mind blank when it comes to creating plots and scenarios for them…🥲
most of the time I just wing it but when it’s longer than 10 pages I have a script which details specific scenarios that I want to draw. when you write your script think of your comic as like, a play or a movie so you can envision what shot you want in a panel. when I start a page I set down text first to see how big of a space the speech bubbles will take up in a panel. If it’s too big or looks too much like a wall of text, that’s when I make another panel with a different angle of the same scene to divide the text (or close up shots of objects the character is interacting with) for better spacing.
it’s just a matter of getting used to it to be honest! i mostly learned from watching a lot of movies and looking at storyboards.

Artists, when you draw with a fixed color palette in digital, do you mix the colors within the palette to create new ones or do you use them without mixing?

The secret wish is to write a fanfic that someone loves so much they make fan art of it, or to create a drawing that someone creates an entire fic based off of it.
There’s some art I’d love to write fics for, but I’m terrified the artist will hate how I portray the characters and there’s nothing more horrifying than disappointing someone you admire orz
On the flipside if someone sent me art of something I wrote, even if it’s stick figures I’d cry and ask if I’m allowed to print it and put it on my wall.
I can confidently say as an artist that most of us would also be happy to get even a very very short one-shot inspired by our drawings and we’d be riding that high for literal weeks dgkshdksh
yknow AI art has ruined an entire genre of painting to me, i saw one of those smooth anime-realism pieces and immidiately thought “ugh, AI art” until i noticed it was posted by an established deviantart user 6 years ago. like ive never been a huge fan of that genre but it looks like a pretty difficult style to master and i feel bad for the artists who specialized in anime-realism only to have their entire market jacked by people typing keywords into midjourney.
I have something to add to this. every single time I look up reference pictures, I get shitty ai generated bullshit. I’ve actually reached the point where I discovered that pasting this into google gives you a solid filter for 99% of the ai art. typing in -“word” will filter out all results with that word. I might end up making another one to filter out costumes and all that shit for better historical results when looking at outfits for my characters from various time periods.
if you don’t put a space before it, it won’t work so keep that in mind. if there are any I might have missed that are still coming up in your results, put them in tags. and I’ll add them to the original post. if you see this and you end up using it, please reblog so more people, especially artists and charecter designers, are able to find it. Google is becoming rapidly unstable due to the influx of ai art, and it makes me incredibly sad, first of all, that my work as an artist is becoming rabidly obsolete. This is not worth it. Ai art is not worth it.
Here is the anti ai filter, note that this only works for image searches and only serves as a filter for art. due to the amount of ai writing concealed in media, I have no real way to create a filter for that. I hope this helps the art homies who are sick of this shit, and the people who just want to look at human art for a change:

It really shows how different the artist’s idea of “drawing that turned out well” is from the audience’s idea of it bc like, the art I post and expect to be a flop post nearly always gets twice as much love on here than the one I’m convinced will be a banger dgsjdgjsg
