WHY do I need to think about Tables when I COULD be thinking about JE adoptive incest
Listen. Listen. Yes yes Jon developing Feelings for his father but also. Elias seeing his new son grow and change throughout the years. He is not just guiding Jon into being a tool he is lovingly sculpting the child who will one day become his new god. He is seeing his younger self in Jon, so so curious, feeling a separation from everyone else he can’t fully explain (and you CAN’T convince me Jonah didn’t feel like that at least a little. Come on.), touched by the powers and aching to learn more. So genuinely fond and affectionate for his son, his boy. Seeing the ways he changes Jon, his little quirks, the ways he responds to Elias. Thinking that he knows Jon and can predict him and then suddenly Jon is surprising him yet again, such a fascinating enigma. And god it’s going to be this one, isn’t it? There’s nobody more perfectly suited to the task. Jon is so, so perfect. He’ll make a beautiful monster, and he’ll have his loving father to guide him every step of the way.
I think Elias has a deeply possessive love for his son but he’s not especially concerned over the Exact nature of their relationship. He’d be perfectly happy letting Jon off into the world to Watch all the interesting things he does and then folding him back into his arms when he inevitably returns, or housing Jon even when he’s grown up and caring for him and talking to him and Observing him in person and keeping him, or taking him out on romantic candlelit dates and kissing him, or taking Jon on every available surface while narrating his deepest, darkest fantasies to him. I think they should both be a little aromantic with their incest. I think Elias would be happy with any of those outcomes because no matter what Jon is always going to be His. His boy, his son, and sometimes that includes being his lover but no matter what Jon is this strange, beautiful, surprising man who is slowly becoming something Greater, and Elias loves that.
