“Let me know if you see any good cows”

IT’S NOT WHAT WE THOUGHT

Stop reading if you don’t want “Let me know if you see any good cows” ruined

Guuuuuyyyyys it just clicked… I think what we interpreted as a sweet bond between Jon and Martin about cute animals was in fact foreshadowing. 🥺

So when I had this epiphany I did some digging back in the transcripts and yeah I realized, um. WE’RE the “good cows”.

Humans/animals as a source of fear for the entities is often tied to “predator/prey” or “hunters/hunted” and consuming us. Jon often refers to this dynamic in S5 as an alternative to the “avatar” labels because it fits better. Gerry said it best:

And the two scenes we get before the Archivist gets “Hello, Jon”-ed and the world becomes said “factory farm”…

The fears are dissatisfied with the current supply of “food”.

And then, right before the ritual is triggered -

Jon is finally about to have a proper meal. The last words shared between them before *we* all become livestock:

The “good cows” are symbolism for the fears seeking a proper meal.

😢

I will wait in the corner for you all to hit me with sticks.
