A Guest for Mr. Spider

Appearance:

A hardcover book children’s book titled “A Guest for Mr. Spider”. The contains 32 pages of crudely drawn depictions of a short story. The cover has the title of the book with a web design in the corners while the back has a depiction of one Mr. Spider.

Plot:

The plot in summary is about “Mr. Spider” standing in a room as guests visit him one by one.

Each visitor offers him a gift only to get eaten by him. Each time this happens Mr. Spider swells larger, more viscera surrounds the door and threads become more visible connecting to Mr. Spider as well as the doors he stands before.

It ends with Mr. Spider turning to the reader and telling them they are the next “guest for dinner”. The final observable page is a pop up flap of the other door speckled in blood with webs attached.

Abnormality:

Reading this book will cause the victim to enter a trance like state compelled to read it as they unknowingly walk to some other location.

From the incident report this is known to end with the victim placing the book (opened to the final page) upon a door and knocking.

The victim and book will then be pulled in by some large creature (presumably Mr. Spider). No remains have ever been found.

Classification:

Spiders, web and compulsion all clearly define this as a thread from the Great Spider. It will be stored in the appropriate wing. No other classifications need to be considered.

The book is considered safe to access as long as testing is done in at least pairs of two to prevent the abnormality from taking course. The final page should never be read when testing. One due to the loss of life and two it has been proven difficult to relocate the book after it is pulled through the door.
