jonathan sims is so funny as a protagonist bc he acts and talks like the tortured mc of a 19th century gothic horror novel while everyone else around him just talks like a regular person. extra funny because they all make fun of him for it and it still doesn’t stop him.
some episodes of the magnus archives are like we are impossibly small and inconsequential in the vast expanse of the universe and nothing we do matters. the fragility of human existence is as beautiful as it is horrifying and we must make our peace with that as it is a fate not even death can save us from.
and then some episodes are like what if this band was so shit people died
one good thing about getting spoiled in the magnus archives is that half the time i dont get the context at ALL and its just so wild especially with summarized eps. you never rlly know when that spoiler comes in handy nor when will you encounter it.
u know what. I bet the reason the Magnus Institute is looked down on by academics is bc Jonah violently disagrees with historians on several key points about history that he witnessed but that is misunderstood bc there’s no evidence and keeps trying to get ppl to change their assessment. so all the academic institutions think that every head of the Institute is just insane and judges the whole organization by that.
actual historian: these two men had a very close friendship-
200-year-old haunted eyeballs possessing the body of a man with no academic qualifications or credibility: they were fucking.
actual historian: can you tell me your source for that?
200-year-old haunted eyeballs vividly remembering the orgy he once attended with both the men in question: no.
What if all the gaudy shirts Tim wears are presents from Danny from his various trips and excursions. Danny had initially meant it as a joke, getting his brother the ugliest shirts he could find. But Tim would wear them out of spite to say “my brother got me this gift. It’s ugly as heck but I love him and I will wear them”. And then once he was gone, Tim kept wearing them to remember him by.
Wow. You really woke up and chose to make us all cry today huh.
Jon taking Martin out of the lonely being compared to Orpheu and Eurydices is kindda funny if you really think about.
Because Jon did find Martin and lost. Except he tried again. It isn’t Orpehus and Eurydices if Orpheus had not looked back, is Orpheus and Eurydices if after losing Eurydices a second time, Orpheus had went straight back to the Underworld, forced Hades to tell him his whole life story incapacitating him (Hades is stronger than Peter Lukas, he gets to not die), got to Eurydices by looking around and got out without any coditions this time because everyone is sorta scared of how stuborn he is.
[ID: a simple black-and-white comic about 195. Jon and Basira sit in a rowboat on the water. She looks to the side, while Jon is leaning forward with his eyes closed. Written beside them are “distracted” and “exhausted”, respectively. Closer up, Jon tries to ask “what are you look-” but Basira cuts him off, looking confused and saying “do they seem familiar to you?” Jon raises an eyebrow and asks, “who?”, looking to what Basira’s looking at. Distantly, Peter and Tim are in kayaks next to each other, talking. Tim’s grinning, while Peter looks sort of uncomfortable. They both suddenly notice Basira and Jon’s presence, looking at them with raised brows. Tim has an exclamation mark beside him, while Peter has a question mark. Cutting back to Basira and Jon in their rowboat, who are staring back. Jon’s eyes are wide, and he has an exclamation mark beside him. Basira looks confused, and has three question marks. Finally, they’re both in the same frame. Tim yells excitedly in all caps and huge font, pointing, “I fucking knew you two were a thing-” before Jon cuts him off with an indignant “no!” Basira’s resigned to holding the oars, leaning back and looking unimpressed. Peter looks down. Written beside him in tiny font is “pls no more talking”. End description.]
