i think the biggest ick(non-derogatory) i love about Jmart is their main misunderstanding of each other. Like Martin just never gets it through his skull that Jon sees no difference between himself and the ‘monsters’ and Jon just cannot grasp Martin’s strength and optimism as anything but naivete. So much of the hurtful shit they say and do to each other comes down to that dissonance.
Like no, Martin, Jon isn’t magically exempt from his participation in the apocalypse just because he was tricked into clearing the very last hurdle.
And no, Jon, Martin isn’t ignoring the magnitude of the apocalypse because he can’t comprehend it he just thinks that you and the rest of the world is worth fighting for, even if its all in vain.
Both of you would rather die than sustain yourself off of suffering, but are somehow shocked that the other wants to martyr themselves.
They are both massive hypocrites chained by their own vices and in the final moments of the series they demonstrate that they’ve learned nothing and i love them so much it makes me sick.
also can I maybe mention the fandom also can believe these same things, forgetting the fact that bolt narratives are faulty and you cannot trust them because they’re biased. you have like four subsections of the fandom, 1 believes Jon is horrible with no exemption and no difference between him and any others, 2 thinks Jon is fully exempt because he was a victim, 3 believes martin is stupid and naive and 4 believes martin only does what he does because he’d an evil yandere simp
