OK so TMA’s a tragedy, and these are all the possible endings I can think of, at least when it comes to Jon.
*Also I’m gonna title them like in video games cause its fun and this is depressing
- Ending 1, The Archives: Jon has to be killed and set on fire with the web lighter (he is the archives, after all). It ties into Gertrude’s original plan.
- Ending 2, The Beholder: Jon ascends to try and make everything right. He either succeeds or fails, but either way he is irreversibly one with his entity. (In order to ascend Jon has to lose his anchor (interpret that as you will))
- Ending 3, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream: Jon gets stuck in his dream-like state similar to when he was in his coma, but he now lives every horror known to man, existing out of space and time.
- Ending 4, Go Where I Can’t Follow: Jon can’t go through the hole in reality in Hilltop Road. The World is his domain, and he is not welcome in The Other One. Martin and the others go through
- Ending 5, The Anchorless: Jon fails and has to fulfill Martin’s wish. He kills Martin and loses his anchor (or one of his, depending on how you see Melanie and Georgie). Jon continues to look for ways to fix everything, until he accepts his role
- Ending 6, The Archivist: The world goes back to normal, but he can never and will never leave the archives.
- Ending 7, Reality Schism: The domains still exist, but Jon finds a way to separate parts of the world from The Entities. People still suffer, but some people won’t.
- Ending 8, The Replaced: Jon’s eyes are gouged out, and he becomes Jonah’s new host
- Ending 9, The Panopticon: He does what Martin was supposed to do (stab Jonah and take his place) and is stuck in the tunnels for all eternity. Always watching. This also ties into that beholding statement when they finally arrived in london.
- ????: It somehow connects to the archivist (?) in the Library of Alexandria. Idk, I didn’t think this one through. If any of you have thoughts, pls comment them or say in the tags
- Ending 10, You Who Listen, And Remember None: Without the Eye, Jon is shown to forget everything. Everything is normal now, but the whole series is just Jon trying to remember, and failing to.
- Ending 11, The Missing: After the fight, no one knows where Jon is. He’s just gone. Did he get erased from existence? Is he dead? No one knows. This ties into the heart-to-heart conversation Jon had with Martin about “not being another mystery”. The final tape is Martin’s eulogy
Feel free to add or send any ideas
