the issue with a lot of jonelias fics in their characterisation of Jon is that he’s often portrayed as a meek character who only reacts, never acts. he respondsto Elias’s actions and words, but has little to no agency of his own, not even where the simplest of matters are concerned. it takes away the veneer of tension that is always between them in canon, the familiarity they have with each other that makes Jon just as likely to openly defy Elias as he is to turn to him for help when he is desperate.
